September/october Manifesto

Has anyone seen the September/ October issues of Manifesto ?.

I was talking to another subscriber recently who like me had not seen one for September. I have sent emails to Mike and Sarbina without response and this followed other problems earlier in the year which thankfully Ian Dewhurst gave some time up to help sort out, although I am still missing two from last year.

I got the Sept 2009 issue no 108, not seen Oct yet.

The sept one as a young Micheal Jackson on the cover.

Hi Dave,

Issue 107 was a July issue with Brenda Russell on the cover and it said the next one would be September.

I have subscribed to the mag since around issue 20 and having sent another cheque off in June feel badly let down.Having purchased books/mags,music etc from most of the major players on our scene, I have very rarely had a problem, and if so this has been sorted out quickly.

Bad news, no sign of September issue 108, but still luckier than Jolly and others.

There are adverts and numbers for advertising/back issues and subscriptions but getting response and distribution right leaves an awful lot to be desired.

receiving the next issue? looks like my forty quid down the drain!

Has your cheque been banked yet ?

I sent off beginning of September for my latest renewal subscription and my cheque hasnt been banked yet. In a way I wish it had then I'd know they'd definitely owed me one.

I have had problems in the past & it is a chaotic system but they have always sorted things out for me in the end so I'd bear with them a little longer if you can.

Im sure its all in hand. Well I hope it's all in hand.

Hi Ali,funny you should mention the cheque as just had a bank statement update & no hasn't been banked,so don't really know if it has been rec'd.at Manifesto or is lying in some sorting office!! have been with Manifesto since Polly's days & always re-subbed as it is a good read in my opinion so don't want to pack it in as such it's just frustrating not knowing one way or 'tother,so will stick with it in the hope all will be sorted,eventually!!

Me too !! I've subscribed since the "Polly days"

If yours hasnt been banked & mine hasn't I suspect they anticipated problems hence maybe holding on to our cheques rather than bank them before their ship was in order & really pxssing us off.

In the past Ive seen them selling at Prestatyn so Im gonna wait until theyre back next week then give em a call.

Hi Daryl,

To me there appears to be a lack of communication between the people you send your subs to and Manifesto which are different addresses.

I have emailed both offices without success before which is poor on their part.

I notice Neil Rushton's book is available soon from Bee Cool and under normal circumstances I would ask for this as a Xmas present.

Until I am satisfied with Manifesto's service and receive old issues such as September, I will not chance sending off for this. I hope Neil has other more reliable outlets for his work.

Thanks for the comments to the post. I like many others have supported Manifesto since the early days, because it is a good read, and want to continue doing so, and whilst we are all grateful for the work put in, much of which is free, I am sure the sales would be higher with better organization.

One of our kids was sent a birthday card (and cheque) by her grandad down in Finchingfield Essex beginning of September and its still not arrived. He sent another one end of September to our eldest and that did arrive.

The fact that cheques haven't been cashed suggests they've not been received, afterall who'd sit on a bankable cheque no matter how chaotic their admin?

What postal strike ?

That is a very good & valid point Pete thanks.

I should have thought of that especially as our bin men have been on strike for about 6 weeks & its causing various problems (no rats tho!!)

I'll ring Manifesto next week if I havent heard anything.

P.P.S. Actually that reminds me. I sent a christmas card last year to a friend in Bolton (early Dec) & I was gutted when they didnt get it as I'd spent a fiver on it (which is a lot for a Yorkshire bird to spend on a christmas card!) & it was lovely, to her taste & specially picked by me.

Well there was light at the end of the tunnel. She did receive it ..... in June this year!! ! so I hope your daughter gets hers much sooner than that !! ATB Ali x
