Guest Bearsy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 best collection im happy with the way i dance
Guest Mrs Simsy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Dancer by a million miles! Me too, they'd always be some chancer complaining about your records!
Guest Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 best collection im happy with the way i dance Well i allready have the best collection
Guest Bearsy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Well i allready have the best collection well and im already the best dancer
Patto Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Yep i would also choose to be the best ever dancer, but when you look at the adulation that DJs such as Butch get maybe some would choose that option along with their records of course.I once got told that a dancer's ability was inversely proportional to the size of his record collection. However this is blown way out of the water when you look at the Likes of Keb Darge and more recently Liam Q who have it both ways --The Sods
Russ Vickers Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Dont know about the BEST DANCER or Best DJ, but altho i love dancing & wasnt too bad at shakin' a mean hoof in me prime, its about the music & i would opt for the best SOUL COLLECTION. Russ
Tim Smithers Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 best collection im happy with the way i dance You might be, but others aren't
Guest Bearsy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 You might be, but others aren't just call me Dave
grantdyche Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I would go for the dancer always,If he was a Dj with a really good collection,That would be a bonus Grant

I'd settle for just the best collection and not worry about the DJ'ing bit

Seriously though - I would be the DJ with the best collection. Then I could sell half of them and pay for dancing lessons. Simples..

The quality of dancing is so subjective anyway. Look at some of the finalists in last years "World Norther Soul Dancing Championships"
Guest Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Collection every time. The quality of dancing is so subjective anyway. Look at some of the finalists in last years "World Norther Soul Dancing Championships" So is djing, look at some of the play lists you can have all the best records and no taste, look at Johnny (mercy) Fingers Edited October 7, 2009 by ken
Ged Parker Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 So is djing, look at some of the play lists you can have all the best records and no taste, look at Johnny (mercy) Fingers Ahh that's because having a great collection and being a great DJ are two different things Being the greatest Dancer or DJ are probably both subjective having the greatest collection probably isn't. I can think of loads of 'northern' records I wouldn't buy but can't think of any I would rather not own than own (inc Mercy ). If that makes any sense?

Ged Parker Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 D J Genisis thing Ged,god awefull !!,but the Four Vandelles should be defenitly be in a top collection I'd have both of those if they came via this mythical magic wand, though I wouldn't buy either of them. And as for playing them out maybe just if I was DJing for a dance competition

Ged Parker Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 RW;KR;IL;DE;BR You are probably right(ish) but if that's a list of nominations, all I can say to that is - James Dockery on Soul Craft
Douglas Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I can't imagine Butch's current adulation is anywhere near the respect Richard Searling received the last two years of the Casino, Searling had a playlist to die for, some of his sounds still stand today as amongst the best records ever played, i.e. Cecil Washington, Court Davis, Moses Dillard and so many others, so to answer the question i don't think you could ever beat Richard Searlings legendary status.

Douglas Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 You have no "imagination" Even Searlings average sounds are far better than any crap being discovered now, The Sweet ' Broken Heart Attack' (Chester Pipkin c/u) Judy Hughes 'Fine,Fine,Fine (Judy Street c/u) to name just two.
