with 34 day left until Tunstall ‘rocks again’ to 10 hours of Torch records it is with some disappointment that we feel the need to reply to rumours, rumours and even more bloody rumours regarding THE TORCH REUNION

1-The Torch Reunion is being held at The Ryan Hall - The Boulevard - Tunstall - Stoke on Trent ST6 6DW and has NOT been moved to the Sneyd Arms Hotel Tunstall apparently due to poor ticket sales.

Only last week Jez had a one hour meeting with the Ryan Hall committee to ensure we are all singing from the same hymn sheet come the 24th Oct 2009.

We have been sold out for EIGHT months, there are NO tickets available, please don’t travel to The Ryan Hall if you have no ticket.

2-It has also been suggested by some that Ian Levine is calling the shots dictating what others can and should play etc, etc

Please clear out your lugholes and listen....

BOLLOCKS, COMPLETE AND UTTER BOLLOCKS.

He like the other dj's are fully aware of what the day is about its not about Ian Levine its not about Malc Burton, its not about Colin Curtis its about YOU who made The Torch the awe-inspiring venue it became.

It would naive not expect some duplications of records during the evening session however to compensate our first 5 hours of entertainment will be supplied by well known collectors who had the privilege to have visited The Torch as paying punters, they've been asked to dig deep and play some of those underplayed/forgotten Torch records, some of which may be completely new to some ears

The afternoon boys have all picked three records that they want to play within their thirty minute sets which they have shared with each other to avoid possible duplication, I guess this is possibly where the "someone’s calling the shots" rumour has possibly come from. The DJ;s have one brief...PLAY TORCH RECORDS!! End of FACT.

3-Finally we understand that someone is considering a similar themed soul night close to The Ryan Hall on the same night, if he does indeed go ahead Malc, Jez and myself sincerely wish him all the best, in fact if he would like to email us we’ll send him over a list of names and email addresses of 46 people from all over the UK who are on the Torch Reunion Ticket standby list who I’m sure would be delighted just to be part of the “Tunstall feeling” that night even if it is at another venue

For those out there who are lucky enough to have tickets and are planning to meet up at HOSE STREET @ 1300hrs at the site of the old Torch read on......

As the Ryan Hall is in close proximity to Hose St we strongly advise you park up near to the Ryan Hall, the venue for the reunion.

Ryan Hall is situated on the corner of The Boulevard and Wardell Street (which shows on street map link below as WAR ST) at the end of Wardel Street is a pay and display car park. This is chargeable @ £4 per day. And has places for 46 cars.

A 5min stroll back to Hose St the site of the Torch, head toward A50, go under the A50 via an underpass and you’ll be at Tower Square, The infamous Sneyd Arms Hotel will be on your right.

What’s on street map as HS above TOWER SQ is in fact Hose Street, take a right off Tower Sq after the Sneyd Arms into Forster Street, then first Right into Phoenix Street and Hose St and what was the entrance to The Torch is at the bottom.

DIRECTIONS to Tunstall from the M6

M6 Motorway Junction 15, follow the A500 (Queensway) to the A527 to Tunstall. Follow signs to Tunstall District Centre. Tower Square and The Sneyed arms is on your left,, up to Roundabout take 4th exit onto A50 the first Left into A527...The Ryan Hall is 100M down that road on Right Hand side

From A50 south, go to the A500 (Queensway). Turn right (northwards) and follow the above.

Let me state for the record (pun intended)

1. I do not wear a wig or a false chest hair piece.

2. We will not be stealing any cars (these new fangled duddies are 2 tough for us)

3. There will be 10 hours of floorbending Torch sounds that will wake any hore up for

55 miles around.

So there you have it, the truth, straight from the horses mouth (pun intended)

Not telling Grandma how to suck eggs however it wouldn't be a bad idea if you left an email addy as lots who are coming on the 24th view soul source but don't log on therefore unable to use PM facility.

Near divorce in our house a few weeks ago when Mrs Minit got her cleaning head on and sorted out the draw where I kept mine & Poke's ticket. She threw a lot of stuff out a few days before and the bin men had come and gone wanker.gif

Couldn't find tickets anywhere unsure.gif

Eventually found 'em.

She'd put them somewhere safe but couldn't remember doing so rolleyes.gif

If you come off M6 at Junction 16 Stoke North & Crewe come down the A500 or the "D Road" as us Stokies call it, then get off at the A34 junction & go north on A34 towards Congleton for about 1/2 mile there's an excellent steak house pub on the right hand side, it used to be called the Harecastle but it now the Miller & Carter.

If you are getting off at Junction 15 Stoke south just take A34 north thro' Newcastle till you reach the D Road, all as per above.

Its easy to get back to Tunstall as well from here, as you just come back to the A500/A34 roundabout & take the slip road straight into Tunstall passing Hose Street on the right hand side as you enter Tunstall town!!

Nice bit of snapping at the Harecastle!!thumbsup.gif There's also a Pizza Hut 'bout 5 mins from Ryan Hall, and of course the Sneyd Arms do meals as well

Asda is 5 min walk as well,with a cafe in....and also while yer in the 'George at Asda' section do a tidy brogue for dancing in wicked.gif

I've had a tel con this evening with one of the afternoon dj's who was unaware that there will be no break between 6 and 7-30 as per the origonal tickets, we are now 2pm to 12 midnight staright through as the dj rosta below, please if possible fwd on to those that you know have tickets...

1pm The Hose Street meet up...for those that want to, Jez, Malc and myself will be under the Torch Plaque Hose St Tunstall, (the site of The Torch) for a team photo, silly handshakes and just one more chance to drive the local residents bonkers, then at 1-45pm a 5 min stroll to The Ryan Hall-Tunstall, (EDIT - LOOKS LIKE 150 WILL TURN UP)

2pm to 6-30..."Torchites Together", 9 ex Torchites who will be digging deep and hopefully pull out some Hose St gems that have all but been forgotten.
