Harry Crosby Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Just been reading in sales a dana vallery -you don`t know where your intrest lies, remember buying a version by five and a penny on british polydor from sound effect in york in the 70`s, who were these, was this only a 70`s release? many thanks for any help
Pete S Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 No it was a 68 release on Polydor, paper label, the one you're on about was a legit repress as it was a big Cleethorpes record. The girl singer of this band contacted me a couple of years ago after a copy!

dthedrug Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 A must have item Dave? It's a pile of crap! Pete did you not notice the JM stands for John Manship? I guess you did, All I can say is back in the 7ts I use to love to go junking and looking through piles of records to find that new sound, this was a hard find?. I think you should remember now and again that back then with no price guides no internet, and all the knowlage we now posses, finding a Carl Douglas or a Fathers Angels Issue was like finding a needle in a haystack, hence the prices of records today, FIVE OF A PENNY was a huge record and it got the dancers danceing and that is what its all about aint it? it also sold very well as a reissue, so it must have something going dont you think?
