Drew3 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) ......played a song by The Vows. I think it was Tell Me (see my last played). The lead singer sounds a bit like Morris Chestnut (Too Darn Soulful) to me. Is it? KTF. Drew. Edited September 19, 2009 by Drew3
Guest Perception Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Great release on V.I.P. The demo copies had Buttered Popcorn on both sides so the only way to get "Tell Me" on original 45 is on an issue copy.
Lamont Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 In a recent Mojo magazine it claimed this show has 4,000,000 listeners + each week

Drew3 Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Yes I'm pleased with my 'uneducated' ears Simon. Any history re group/artise that you know? KTF. Drew.
dthedrug Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 HI ALL...I BROUT THE VOWS ISSUE AT THE CASINO 75 ALONG WITH TOMMY GOOD ON CANADIAN TAMLA, FOR £1.50 EACH, BOTH RECORDS ARE CLASSICS, AS THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HERED THE VOWS, I THOUGHT HELLO! THIS IS TO DARN SOULFUL!(PUN INTENTIAL) AT THAT TIME I NEVER APRECIATED ITS TRUE VALUE AND SOLD IT FOR £10 IN THE MID 8ts TO RICHARD DOMMAR, I HAVE SINCE GOT A TOMMY GOOD, BUT ON US GORDY, BUT THE VOWS IS NOT CHEAP AND IN TRUTH HARDLY EVER TURNS UP ON LISTS? SOUND OF THE 6ts IS A GOO PROGRAME AND NOT TO BE MISSED. AND I ALSO GOT A QUANTUM FEELING WHEN BRIAN PLAYED IT TODAY DAVE KIL

Guest Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 In a recent Mojo magazine it claimed this show has 4,000,000 listeners + each week " SOTS " is a highly creditable programme ( hence its' listening figures ) and via various producers on / for it , the show over the years has included a lot of notable rare soul and Motown reacks . Malc Burton
Pete S Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Talking about Sounds of The 60's - the producer Phil Swern bought a record off me this week, someone had requested it and he couldn't find a copy so he bought mine - thats dedication to your listeners. It was The C.O.D.'s - Michael on Stateside - have a listen out for it on an upcoming edition.
Mach Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Great show, listen religiously and aint missed a show in years, and with bbc i player you can listen again whenever you want to, Good old Brian, it was looking a bit dodgy awhile back when he was poorly for a couple of months, did,nt think he,d get back to the helm, but so glad he did..long may he continue

Phil Swern has a huge vinyl collection I understand, but is it as big as this guy's (650.000)? https://www.gumtree.c...4/44628234.html
