TIS A RARE RECORD Nev -the book hits about £850 on this one -anyway THATS THE BOOK !!! DONT KNOW ANYHTING ABOUT THE LABEL -THINK THE RECORD FEATURES "STANDE BEVERLI"

sound southern to me but could be way of the mark?

BAZ A

Brilliant record:good: Des Parker used to play it, sure he can throw some light on it

Same label as The Professionals ''My heart belongs to you'' ?

.

Thats right, The Professionals on Action Pac (no relation to the Detroit group) were originally The Hollywood Saxons i believe....Action Pac is a pink label, West Coast (LA i would imagine)

Both records are incredible soulful group harmony tunes and rare as well, ive been looking for a copy of the Professionals for 20 odd years and seen it only once on Ebay and once on a Lew Stanley list (outbid both times)

Good luck on finding the H S's Nev mate, great record.

Thanks Baz and others for the info suppliedthumbsup.gif

Managed to find a discography on the group but think it's an oddball that is either sat in collections or maybe just impossible to find

Either way that £850 price guide is a stumbling block ,so it'll be on the"sometime in the distant future wants list"sad.gif

keb darge played the professionals a couple of times at stafford

Yes he did, think I had his copy....great record just lost in the shuffle...

books ar one thing, reality more often another thing. This is exactly the type of record you can be very lucky in finding cheap. Or you may end up waiting and looking ten years without seeing one at all.

There`s another one be the Hollywood Saxons by the way that tops this 45 by far rarity- and qualitywise...

i've lost the professionals on ebay more than once (like in the last couple of years actually) so it's been on ebay more than once, both times lost it around $300

got a sound file Adey only want to hear it thouthumbsup.gif

Sorry Ted, not rigged up to do sound files yet. Can anyone else help out with one? please.

It seems like its a pretty rare 45, I know Stevie Z plays it out, does anyone else?

I love the Professionals 45 on the label, its a slower track but bloomin good.

If anyone wants my 'Hollywood Saxons - Loving You' for £850 I'd sell it. PM me or email adypotts at hotmail dot co dot uk

Count me out Adey sad.gif

Ted ,if you want it ,feel free ....but don't think it's a £850 record ,infact i would'nt have even asked if i thought it went for serious money no.gif

Steve Z played it,it caught my attention(so did lots of his recordsbiggrin.gif ...asked Steve for info (but forgot to ask price)g.gif

Also tried everywhere for a soundfile and no luck so unless someone is willing to post up the file ,i doubt theres one lurking on t'internet.

Thanksthumbsup.gif

To be honest Nev, I was blown away when I saw the post about it being in a price guide for £850 as I don't have any price guide books. When I got the record off my son I think he charged me a few dollars. It's a pleasant tune, rare, but if someone with a greater knowledge on values than me says its £850, then..... g.gif ......Deal !!

I've had the record -the label (pink) had a New York address, which was odd with a name like the Hollywood Saxons who were mainly west coast based I believe.A £600 touch even a few years ago.

neilb

they had another doowop / transitional record on a new york label also as the Hi Cs, I bought it off mike noriega and according to him it's the same group and stan beverly is on the writing credits, i forget the label now but they did have new york connections. action pac was their own label though, they put out stuff on their label in the 80s even. so they must have just gotten new york distribution on that particular release.
