Premium Stuff Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 No...this is... Not anywhere in the same heart-wrenching league as Nelson IMVFHO mate Cheers Richard
Guest REVILOT Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 No...this is... It is excellent - not least the sax bubbling away as Jean sings on wonderfully - I like em both, but Nelson has the tortured emotional voice to blow one away,

Kev Cane Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Tymes-The Crutch-RCA Artist: Tymes Title: The Crutch Label: RCA Posted info: A big ask given that a massive percentage of soul records are about heartbreak and the concept is about feeling, this is one though, "Its 3 oclock in the morning, I,m so dead on my feet" cheers AndyKev
Garethx Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It's good that the Rambler 45 seems to be around in a bigger quantity and at a more realistic price again. A tremendous piece of soul music. It's got me thinking of what a stable of fabulous artists La Beat had at one stage.

I still need a copy if anybody has one very cheap not seriously looked for this so not aware of how low the price has got. on this topic though there are thousands and thousnads of records that could take this title. What we are getting down to here IMO is quality deep soul. Take your pick ....
Alison H Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Is this the most heart-wrenching soul song ever? Awesome deep Detroit. The other side of Mojo Man on Rambler 3001. Play it loud!!! Cheers Richard Nelson Sanders - I'm Lonely (Rambler 3001-A) - I played it loud !! and I agree its a lovely "hits you right there!" song but why oh why does he talk part way through. Spoils it a bit, for me, but never mind the rest of it is awesome. Al x
Alison H Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Eek ! another talker. I'm not a big fan of talking in records but once it gets going its absolutely beautiful. Thanks Al x Slight amendment to the above (Im female so allowed to change my mind!) I dont really like the "ch"s in the record but nevertheless its still a nice record. Ta Ali x

Great great track, play it in the car regular. I go for Peggy Scott - Every Little Bit Hurts. Ok, lots of folks have done it but not for me with the same delivery of guts and passion. Can't find a Refosoul file or Youtube of it unfortunately.
Dylan Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 eddie parker "but if you must go" is the one track realy doing damage on my car CD this week. one of the very best deep 45s out there and i've never had a sniff of a copy either......

Do you have a clip you could put into refosoul here Dylan, its years since I have heard the 7" one. I have the LP rerecording which is actually pretty good but is blown away by the 7". What an amazing double sider, dont think I have ever seen a copy, was talking about this with Andy D recently and wondering if they all still reside in Japan.

I've only ever seen one copy....Paul Dunn's (great Detroit collection)...he leant me it to play at Cleethorpes modern room during an afternoon session...there was a gathering around the decks and quite a few open mouths....absolutely stunning soul.......
