Can't really see much on there thats worth more than a few quid, if the Otis Smith was an original, thats a nice find, but going by the labels that the other 45's are on, I'd take it to be a reissue (the reissue has an instrumental version on the b side)

There's also a counterfeit of Otis Smith with the correct flip ("alley full of trash" or whatever it's called). Bootleg has a rather pale looking photocopied label

I think I got 40 quid for an Otis Smith re-issue - which was nice.

Listed it as a re-issue too thumbsup.gif

If the June Alexander is an original you may be onto something, but yeah, the company it looks to be keeping (the labels of the other records etc) doesn't fill me with confidence. Never know though.

I'm not aware that June Alexander has ever been bootlegged, but I couldn't say for sure.

In slightly more flush times I paid a lot of money for mine...

Hi,10pvyip.jpg

Here is an actual copy of the label from the release.

Regards,

Cobwebs.

Looks real enough, I must say.

If it's real, and in top nick, I'd reckon £300-£400. There were a few went through eBay last year - all sold by the same organistaion, who cleared them out of a publisher's office - and they all went for upwards of $600.00. Incuding one to me....

Just in case you don't know, this is the first record of the great Arthur Alexander.

The price has dropped a bit though with the various copies. Last month one was sold on ebay for $300, and a few days ago (all from the same seller) I was very happy to get my copy for $260. Perhaps the price will drop even more if the seller has a box full? Great record anyway, especially the other side (The Girl That Radiates That Charm). Tony, is there any chance of a CD reissue of these sides (as Ace has already compiled other Judd sides and these Arthur Alexander tracks are already on an old ACE LP)?

This was probably the original version of TGTRTC? I've got another (inferior) version on a very early Fame release:

They had fifteen copies, I'm told by somebody I know who works in the shop that thy've been coming from. It's probabaly the only significant 'find' on this 45 that there will ever be.

I got mine when there were roughly two dollars to the pound, so I ended up paying about £350.00 with customs charges (they won't declare a lesser value on customs forms). The $300.00 winner was a pal of mine, and he ended up getting clobbered by customs too - I think he ended up paying about £275.00 in total, at the current exchange rate.

I would say that anything under £300.00 is a bargain for this record in unplayed condition, even with the 'influx' of copies from GE. Once they've sold them all (and they must be getting pretty close now) I have no doubt that figure will rise again.

It is indeed a fantastic double sider, one that I hope we'll be reissuing on CD soon now that we have a deal with the NRC group of labels...

hmm, that's the identical scan that appears on rnb45.com, you can see the edges of the image where it's been rotated to straighten up the writing on the label.

unless the OP just meant that theirs looks identical to that...

pleased to know that there were only 15 copies - after one appeared (that TR won?) and a friend bought a 2nd chance offer, then a second appeared on ebay which i missed, i emailed the seller and he said that that was definitely the lot... and then a couple of months later another appeared (i got a 2nd chance on that one i think), and then another and another and another...

guess maybe the owner was bringing them in a few at a time to the shop? either that or he simply lied...
