Does anybody know how many records The Dells made in the years of their existence (especially 45's)? What happened to the members and is there a discography somewhere on the Web? I own about 5 Checker 45's and sorta hooked to their music (also the non-northern songs). Did they made LP's as well? Are they maybe still performing (yep, silly question, but I don't know for sure..).

Thanks Souly's for any info. And take care.

A great LP track is Higher & Higher (not the Jackie Wilson song), but can't remember title of LP (someone will on here though) ,that many brilliant 45's, still think "Make Sure" is one of the best. ranting_1.gif

Awesome LP and a real bugger to find in the US, Check our Trick me treat me, wonderful up-tempo 70s dancer, I usually knock this out at £20 when I can pick one up, always flies out too..........

THE DELLS WERE AWESOME LIVE AT TRENTHAM GARDENS IN 1999 .

THE HAIRS STOOD UP ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK WHEN MARVIN JNR CAME OUT SINGING "RUN FOR COVER" AND IT WAS THE VOICE ON ALL THOSE GREAT RECORDS.

CERTAINLY IN MY TOP 3 SHOWS OF ALL TIME ! :D

I missed the show but am reliably informed by mates that it was excellent.

Maybe one group for Prestatyn some day.

Who knows.........?

As well as their 60`s stuff try out their 70`s LPs,they`re pretty easy to pick up.And dont cost a whole lot.

Try their " I Touched A Dream " LP on 20 Century,it`s got "Your Song" and "All About The Paper",and lots of real nice slower stuff.

cheers,

Andy :D

Customer Review:

Oh my God, every time I watch this movie, I get goose-bumps. The movie was the movie "The Temptations" could've been. This is actually based on another legendary soul group - the legendary Dells (whose chart record lasts since the '50s and they're still performing which is AMAZING) very loosely. more info

How Can We Find The Love ...

Hadn't heard this one before, just a great bit of soul music. Thanks for bringing it to the list's attention.

They are the sort of group that you take for granted, and then you hear something like this and you realise how great they are. Had the same feeling the first time I heard Make Sure (at Martin and Audra's reception).

How long has Junior Murvin been lead singer?

For years now.

He was just infant Murvin when he began.

Nice to see your sense of humour hasn't changed since you moved from London.

I hope all is well with you, miss your email about what was on.

Lesley sends her best.

Cheers Geoff. You dont think my humour has improved tho, no?

Say hi to Leslie for me. hopefully it wont be too long before I get back up the smoke. I might try to arrange an 'important' meeting on the first Wednesday or Thursday afternoon :sleep3: of the month so I can get back down SITC.
