Guest Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I am from Scotland. I moved to Cleethorpes in the summer of 1972 for 2 years then moved to Manchester till Nov 1976. I was regular music fan Beatles(who I still love) +. Then I was lucky to have a friend in Cleethorpes called Paul Wright. He had a great record collection and he very patiently educated me. We went to Wakefield Mecca later to be Tifinies They were never the same after they were Tiff's. Any way I went to Blackpool with another friend before Wigan opened. Samantha's in Sheffield also to Stoke to Top rank in Hanly. By now the Torch had closed and never got the chance to go there. Now Wigan had opened and we would go to Blackpool then on to Wigan. I started going the second week. Soon just to Wigan. Its a long way from Cleethorpes. I had by this time got a Mini van and some times I used to drive to Wigan by myself. I remember one weekend after Wigan I went to Top Rank for a 16hr all dayer. When I went away on the weekend I almost ever time bought records for Paul. I moved to Canada in October 1976. I have about 20 tapes I recorded at Wigan. I also taped at the 16hr all dayer as Major Lance was live (brilliant). I had a lot more but I gave them to people who used to come by my flat in Fallafield Manchester and spend the rest of the day listening to the tapes before they had to catch the last train home. They came from Wrexham, Darlington Leeds Barnsley etc. It all started about noon on the Saturday as they started to get in. I had not been back to Britain since I left in 1976 till July last year when I went home to be with my termially ill mom who passed away while I was there in Glasgow. Strange thing was I was down town Glasgow just looking round manly trying to buy comedy DVD's to take back. As I have a dual player. When I went down stairs in the Virgin store and saw this CD Greatest Northern All Nighter. I was a little shocked. Any way I bought it. I have been since then stunned at how Northern Soul is as big as ever and all over the net. Up till now I never even thought about looking for it. Keep the faith.............................Kerr Anderson P.S. I am looking for a Mp3 of Bubble gum breakthrough (Inst)
