Denbo Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Johnny & the Baa Baas - Move Along - on Frankie This is just 1 minute 45 seconds long Good record though, just very short. Any improvements on that?
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Not soul, but the shortest record in my collection is... Shel Silverstein - 26 Second Song (Columbia) ...which actually lasts 25 seconds. It came out on a single in 1971... TONE Edited August 24, 2009 by TONY ROUNCE
Corbett80 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 trey js on tee gem...1:37 i think its says on the label?!
Pete S Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Because I used to collect reggae labels, I bought anything on PYRAMID and there was a record by Stavely Makepiece (aka Lt. Pigeon!) called Greasy haired Woman which for some reason came out on Pyramid, it couldn't have been more than 30 seconds long
Eddie Hubbard Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Haven't got one , but isn't The Velvet Satins really short 1.45 or something similar ? Best,Eddie
Dean Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 1.45 seems to be a recurring time! Not sure if it's the shortest in my boxes but 'The Halos - Do I' (1.45 on label) always hit me as very brief. At a time when my feet could could time with my mind I didn't mind its brevity, about 45 seconds too long for my knees now.
Dave Pinch Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) peggy gaines sweet way o livin on ref o ree. says 2.30 on the 45 but im sure it was only 1.30 when i timed it dave Edited August 24, 2009 by dave pinch

Kegsy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 1 minute 45 seconds WOW Some of the shite I've bought blind off the net lasts about 10 seconds before the needle comes OFF. Kegsy
Guest Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 clyde mcphatter - please give me one more chance - mca uk lp -
Mick Holdsworth Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Didn't this all get done about a year ago ? I timed both sides of the B Harner inst - both came out at 1:29 - (probably doesn't count as it was never intended to be that short) I think a strong contender was the Gordons Gin Theme (about 30 seconds ). Cheers Mick Holdsworth

Such a shame too coz its a great dancer! Guess the budget for studio time expired! Edited August 26, 2009 by chorleysoul
Albert Petit Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Rick Baker - Thats called love - Marquette. 1´59 mins.
Birder66 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I started out as a hardcore punk. I've got stacks of LPs with songs that are no more than a few seconds long. I've got a split Ep, where both sides are one second long (feat. Napalm Death and Electro Hippies). Beat that!
Guest dundeedavie Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 i think the shortest in my box is margie mills - goodbye boys goodbye at 1 min 47 of sheer madness
grantdyche Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 The Capreez "How to make a sad man glad" 1.57 secs Paid 75p for that in 1976 the robbing basta**s Grant

It's a small but exclusive club.
grant Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 sadly not in my collection but damon fox - packing up must be one of the shortest?
Denbo Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 Is that short enough !! Thanks Ken AND what a stonkin' good group the Staples Singers are. Mavis(?) Staples, for me, has one of those everlastingly distinctivevoices that make me tingle all over, just like Aretha Franklin. I feelrefreshed afterwards.
Stubbsy Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Little John "Heartbreakin Time" on Martay. Not got access to my "box" at the moment but think it's something like 1:52
