Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Apologies for being a bit tardy. Had to knock up a presentation for work and running a tad late. Staying with the tradition of using performers not usually thought of a soul artists - here's this weeks. There are a couple of questions that I won't answer this time as I think it might give it away to easily Feel free to have a random guess. It all adds to the fun

Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Tina Charles? Although Tina appeared at my youth club in Chadderton she didn't have a record played on the Northern scene.

Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Did she record by herself or as part of a group ? Sorry I'm late...was watching Jam & Jerusalem. That's a terrible excuse - take 50 lines Isis. Actually I usually only take questions to which I can give yes/no answers. I 'll let you off this time and tell you she's a solo performer - although there's a connection to a well known group. I like Jam and Jerusalem too but don't tell anyone
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 ...Think you might find that Tina was the vocalist on 5,000 volts 'l'm On Fire'... Good point Webby! On a technical note though she wasn't named on the record and our girl was.
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) soz but she is one of my fave female artists Who Tanita Tikaram? It used to freak me the way her eyes used to roll up in her head when she sang. Didn't know she was German at the time either... Edited August 23, 2009 by Godzilla

Guest Paul Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 She looks a bit like Reparata. Have I won a fabulous prize?
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 First contribution and I ask one of the questions you can't answer - sods law - really sorry Pete. I've never evaded that question before. You'll just have to trust me that it's not the thing to do this time.
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 she,s always been german , numpty bet you thought she were irish comin from munster lol No mate. With them rolled up eyes and coming from Munster I thought she was a mate of Frankenstein's
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Godz, did she only have the one hit? Only one that most of us would be familiar with
Pete Eccles Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Only one that most of us would be familiar with That wasn't the answer I was looking for ..........again
Guest Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Only one that most of us would be familiar with Is it the locomotion ?
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 "She was a solo performer"... so its not Faith Brown then... Sharon Tandy ? No - I see what you're trying to though. She looks a bit like Reparata. Have I won a fabulous prize? No you have not Mr Mooney. In fact you've just earned yourself detention for being cheeky
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 That wasn't the answer I was looking for ..........again Well she only really had one hit in the UK and US. Other tunes may have scraped the bottom end of the charts. It's possible that she had the off chart success in other countries so I wouldn't rule it out. Won't help though - it's her big hit that's significant and would probably give the game away.
Godzilla Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 was it an instrumental Nope. She definitely sang on the hit. And on the Northern tune.
