Just had a email which reveals the long running mystery of just who sang the andy rix/butch play

World Of Happiness

I happened to have a random conversation with a friend where Italked about an old 45 (with a handwritten label) that my mother playedfor me as a young teenager of her singing a song called 'World ofHappiness'. My mom recorded a 'demo' for the song for Weldon Mc DougalIII, owner of Hawthon Records in Philly on her 18th birthday in 1965.

After that little trip down memory lane, I became curious to findout whatever became of the song. I was wondering if theproducers/writers/record label had found a different singer to recordand officially release the song at some point.

After speaking with my mother and trying to find out what sheremembered about the people involved, I did a Google search using thebits of info she remembered and the song title.

Wow !!!!

I dont know that much about records but how interesting & very sweet if it is her mum who sang on the acetate (excuse me if Ive used the wrong phrase-like I say I now eff all bout records).

Im a pushover when it comes to a nice ending tho so here's hoping all concerned reach a happy ending.

Thanks for that Mike.

At least two different cuts I recall. The acetate that Andy Rix turned up had a nice flip too, "in one ear and out the other".

Kenny Burrelll has a take as well, Peggy Byres or summat like. It's a very diferent take if I remember rightly but I've not heard it for some time.

If I remember correctly weren't Andy and Rob in Philly, en route to see Ms Scott in LA when they obtained the acetate, and chose that as the artists name for the disc?

History is all about dates. I first heard this in NC in 1991 courtsey of a house guest on an acetate sourced in Philly. The acetate was uncredited as far as I remember but the title was " I Wish You A World Of Happiness ". Both of us remarked Oh! a vocal to Bird Walkin' ! Cheers, Ady
