I have two copies of Stevie Wonder TMG 690

One is tittled "I Don't Know Why" the other "Don't Know Why I Love You"

It is the same song and the b side is the same "My Cherie Amour"

The first has the "Sold in UK text" the second dosn't but has the rasied KT stamp on the A side

Is this a common misprint

Any Information welcome.

Thanks in advance

Jules

when it came out idont know why i love you was the `A` side. it made 14 on the uk charts (apr 1969). as it was slipping out the charts the flip started to get some exposure in the states so they flipped it over and it started to go back up the charts getting higher with my cherie amour. so they decided to try the same thing in the uk. the same thing happened my cherie made no 4 over here and by the time this was in the top 5 (aug 69) EMI stopped putting sold in uk on the center of the 45s. and the title shortened on this 45 when they flipped it over. so the initial chart run of i dont know why it has the long title + sold in uk on center and a couple or 3 months down the line when MCA was the A side the sold in uk text is missing and IDKWILY was shortened to IDKW. am i making sense here:hypo:

Yeah sort of get what you mean, however My copies are both credited as the A-side, IDKW has the Sold in..Text, DKWILY has the KT stamp not sure if you got it the wrong way round

YEH IDKWILY WAS STILL THE OFFICIAL A SIDE IT WAS NOT REISSUED AS SUCH. AS FOR THE KT THING THAT WAS JUST ON EMI STUFF ANYWAY. DONT THINK IT HAS ANY BEARING REALLY ON A OR B SIDE
