Premium Stuff Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Hi all I have been listening through old some stuff recently on tapes/CDs etc. My collecting is quite focused these days, so I love listening to more general Northern stuff, CDs, old tapes, radio shows etc. with good stuff that I wouldn't normally buy or collect. Two tracks just popped up on a CD and knocked me out today: Barbara Lynn - You're Losing Me Lou Courtney - You Can Give Your Love To Me (great lyrics ) It made me think - so what tracks have unexpectedly knocked you out in a similar way? Cheers Richard A version of "Never too much" off the most recent Thelma Houston album (bout 8 months old is the album). First heard it played in the modern room by Bob Hindsley at the Whitby Weekender. Verrry nice. Another one is off a cd of modern tunes done for me by Tony Coleby recently but avnt got a clue what its called as he's just titled it Rani's Mix (if u dont know TC, Rani is the name he gives to his better half). He reckons he doesnt know what its called (Mmmm - I think he does but not letting the cat out of the bag). Talking of tapes. I have quite a few that I love & cherish and one is one that Keith from Eccles did for me (I never did know his surname) in 95 I think or whenever Mik Lyons was running the Empress Ballroom in Blackburn cos thats where we used to bump into Keith the most. Under the moon is on there - Im crap with artists think its Rufus Lumley ?? but I could very well be wrong so please excuse my ignorance. Ive kept all my old tapes, not just cos of the music on em, but the people who did them for me. Im gonna have to dig em out now Richard thanks to you so no doubt there'll be more knock out soul coming my way that i'd forgotten about. Cheers Ali x
Daniel Harvey Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 two songs have really captured my imagination of late The dynamic tints -' Rosmarie' on Twinight was a cheap US ebay purchase that goes perfectly as an uplitfting tune to listen to whilst making my bed after brekkie. Really great sound that is not disimilar from the notations stuff on that label. Dewey Jefferies - When no one care cared. Found this tune on a ' dab of soul ' complilation. Just a perfect soulful jazzy piece that sounds great on the rainy train ride into work. Ther're my favorites of late...making winter a little warmer for me.
