Paul McKay Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 So thats where Heikki`s from!,close but no cigar link At least you were right on the cold bit!
Mattbolton Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 At least you were right on the cold bit! link As far as I was aware.... Some guys in Finland found the acetate, pressed it up, and backed his biggie on the other side. Apparently he's still alive and that's where the 'tate came from. The unreleased one ain't great, but '....Holler' is a great track. Cheap as well. As simple a story as that I think...
Md Records Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Herb Johnson sadly died of Cancer in the early part of last Year. I was fortunate to see him perform a few Years before that in a small club in Philly, accompanied by Dave Brown (Philly Archives) on Drums, and the legendary Bobby Eli on Guitar. Although riddled with the disease then, his vocal performances that night on "I'm So Glad" and "Carfare Back" will stay with me, as cherished memories.Herb had also been recording stuff up to the end, and if you check the credits, "Holler" was co written by Dave Brown, and is therefore a relatively recent recording, though "I Know" must have been an older recording that Herb let Dave make use of. My copies came from Dave, and I assume it is his product, though he may have leased the tunes to some enterprising Finnish chaps.
