No but remember this being played

If we are debating contempary sounds played at a venue , The ones which were played at The Wheel between 1965 - 1970 , nust be strong contenders ......

The Dells-Your song

Bobby Womack- So Many Sides of you

Eloise Laws-If I don't Watch Out

Dianne Ducane-Better Late Than Never

Arthur Adams-You've got the Floor

Skip mahoney-Janice

Keni Burke-Let Somebody Love You

Billy Nicholls-Diamond Ring

Atlantic Starr-Circles

A few from the late days of Wigan

Would have thought Atlantic Starr & Bobby Womack were post Wigan?

How about Jean Carn "If You Wanna Go Back"

Cheers Paul

....And that is actually very good! thumbsup.gif

Blimey - exhausted after the Sunday picture quiz. However, before I hit the sack, here's an EWF track that was played at Blackpool Mecca but perhaps a bigger sound at the Ritz in Manchester: Biyo

As for Bobby Womack..."So many sides"...first time i heard it was at the few Friday night all-nighters at Newcastle under Lyme Tiffany's run by Dave Thorley, i would say that was around '83'ish...Sam played it, and i went in Pep's on the Sat. and got the Poet album

I am certain i didn't hear "Circles", until post Wigan, i played it at the Cavendish around "83, cant get to my 12 to see date at the moment

Jean Carn was released in '76...i cannot believe that such a high profile artiste on such a label, could have not been played out and about on the dance music scene, but then it was reactivated early 80's

A few from earlier times played as new releases

Exciters.."Reachin for the best"

Miracles..."Love machine/nightlife/overture"

Sisters Love..."Learning to trust my man"

Oscar Perry..."Mainstring/i got what you meed"

21st Creation..."Tailgate"

James Wells..."Baby im still the same man"

Dooley Silverspoon..."Gameplayers"

Moments..."I got the need"

First Choice..."This is the House etc..."...poss pre wigan

Rimshotts..."Do what you feel"

Millie Jackson..."House for sale"

there are so many...pity many survivors from back then have lost the ability to listen to current release soul from the period since eh!!

A couple of additions:

Richard played Al Hudson and the Soul Partners - Spread Love on a Saturday night which at that point seemed to be relatively unknown, well put it this way only a few of us recognised and danced to it.

Steve Whittle (I believe) played Pigbag - Papa's got a brand new bag in M's.

Was with Mudd, Tommo etc in Leicester on the Sunday and Mudd went missing for several hours. When he came back he explained that he had been riding a bike around Leicester trying to find a record store open on a Sunday to buy this new release.

Crazy times! Mudd R.I.P.

Some crackers there but l'm quite sure 'Never Too Much' was never played at The Casino....and don't think Bobby Thurston was either...Brilliant as they are!! thumbsup.gif

Pretty sure Bobby Thurston was Webby. June 81 release and Richard played it in his spots as a new release. Think Luther was an October 1981 release and a huge record at Clifton Hall.

....Get in there, mate, always thought that Love You Til The Very Last Drop was 83ish and Luther was about the same time..So both of them were played after Wigan shut then...? whistling.gif

whistling.gif indeed laugh.gif

Both 1981 releases, BT June, LV October. so LV unlikely to have been played at Wigan as I said.

But Richard, as well as the likes of Sean Hampsey and myself were playing Very Last Drop as a new release at Clifton Hall and other venues on 12" if I remember correctly. Maybe he didn't bother with it at Wigan.
