Stefan Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi. I am a fan of Ruby Andrews and I have never seen it for sale previously. I managed to buy it to have a complete discography of her but you know the value of this? Ruby Andrews " I just can't get enough / Johnny's gone away " ZODIAC 1003. Thanks.

Stefan Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks Baz A ! It seems to be rather hard to find. Happy to have find my copy at a nice price. I agree with you that's a nice track. It sound different that her others releases.
Premium Stuff Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) This looks like one of those records that is half Chicago and half Detroit Writer and producer on I Just Can't Get Enough is Andre Williams Andre also produced the other side Johnny's Gone Away and the writer was George McGregor I Just Can't Get Enough sure sounds rather Detroit Anyone got any information on this disc please regarding provenance recording wise (obviously a Chicago label)? Ruby's next on the label was a Detroit item Casanova with George McGregor and Mike Terry involved Any clues? Cheers Richard Edited May 7, 2011 by Premium Stuff
boba Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Most (if not all) of Ruby's Zodiac 45s were Detroit productions done in Detroit even though it was a Chicago label. Andre Williams doesn't tell you it was Detroit though, he worked in Chicago a lot (maybe even mostly Chicago by then). However, I'm pretty sure this one was done in Detroit.
Premium Stuff Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) Thanks Bob That's what I thought - but it's great to get your opinion on this I Just Can't Get Enough sure sounds Detroit to me Just went looking and found this on YouTube Cheers Richard Edited May 8, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Anoraks Corner Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I've only ever had/seen grey/white label copies...are there any blue one or proper label stated demos as well? Shame her vocal is lost in the mix.
Paul Dunn Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Agree with Baz around £100 mark, had this one for years. The hardest one to find for me and one of her best is 1012 I Let Him Take Me In His Arms Regards Paul
boba Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I don't think this comes on blue. In my experience gray is more common than white label.
Premium Stuff Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I just picked up a M- grey label one for £70 - not bad I thought Anyone got a scan of the white label version Bob mentioned please? Cheers Richard
