Used to play that version out before it became called R&B ALso I take it the other side of Let Me Go (?) possibly one of my favorite big Maybelle sides, bit slow for today methinks but reduces me to quivering wreck everytime, if so have to embarrasedly say I have never played the NBFY side, a mistake I will rectify this evenng! jocko
yeah jock the flip of let me go ....i played it as an ender at souler power ...beautiful tune link No Better For You is the same as Jo Armstead on Tayster, have you heard this version Davie, if not will send you MP3 as its absolutely identical to BM, so the same that some of the vocal phrasing is obviously copied from one, wonder which!! BM possible slightly better screams and a great ad lib at end, cant believe never listened to that side, thanks for that. More interesting about the 2 records, despite being identical have different writer credits, BM is Ashford-Simpson but a Jack Taylor production, JA is written and produced by Jack Taylor, wonder who is telling porkies, know who my money is on. Cheers Jock Link to comment Social source share

Mal C
I did a label listing and review of this label for my one and only stab at a Soul Zine back in 1999, entitled "Soul Train" sold 400 odd mainly in the South of England. There are loads of great tracks on Port, plus allot the Funk guys play on our show here in Sydney most notibally "Drums for sale" by Jimmy Maye & the soul breeze, which I now love. There is also a re Issue of one of the first Impressions tracks feat the Brooks Brothers of Brute fame, I think... "Listen" put on Port, got an earlier release on Banderra. Worst track on Port with out a doubt The Soothers, easily one of the most overratted tracks that I still see go for way way too much. Other standouts, Curtis Blandon, Intregues Daisy Burris Robert Neal Carol fran Big Maybelle, Johnny Newbag F*** Great track Impressions (from the earlier 7000 series) Chris towns unit The jets Kath & the candlers Clovers Gees King Coleman Mal.C.
