Guest Brett F Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 What does it mean to you, is it a social amphitheatre a night out or is the music your lifeblood, the real reason you live and die by this long forgotten sound. I'm obsessed by the sound, the music whatever the genre it moves me beyond belief, the emotion it evokes is non parallel. I have met and loved people(singular) purely associated with this (almost) UK phenonomeon, and feel it has such a incredible hold on my being that it will never let go, the obsession just for collecting records borders on a foul ugly craziness, I whole heartedly believe I will die with a god ugly 45' buried deep in my throat bone.............AND GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY I'LL DIE HAPPY........ BRETT FRANKLIN..............

Great post. The time I spent collecting records and being obsessed with music is not a time I look back on fondly as there are more important things in life. Its about balance and moderation, which I personally didn't have, and you can waste life when it becomes too focussed on one thing. But its fair to say that getting into this scene years afterwards has changed my life for the better. I've discovered a world of brilliant music I was ignorant of, met a lot of nice, interesting people, and the feeling I get on the dancefloor is awesome; the healthiest drug there is. It has also rekindled a passion I thought was dead in me, for which I will always be grateful. More power to you Brett, a life lived without passion is pointless.
Guest Matt Male Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 The social aspect of the scene gets criticised sometimes but for me there is nothing better than sharing a dancefloor with lots of people all loving the music like i do and at the same time being wrapped up in their own little world with all life's problems forgotten for a few minutes, and dancing with no inhibitions, feeling every change in the music, your spirit really does soar. I've never come across another type of music so best expressed through dancing, the emotional and spiritual becomes physical with northern soul, that's why for me it will always be a social dance scene. There's nothing like it.
