I've recently been searching through stuff in the attic for a copy of Northern Noise magazine/fanzine, I'm pretty sure it existed even though I only have this one copy and don't remember seeing any prior to this one or after it. I think it was handed out for free at possibly the 4th Oldies anniversary, it was about A5 sized glossy paper, can't remember the cover but it did have a record review in the centre pages of the current 'big sounds', two of which were Tailgate by 21st Creation and Pushing too Hard by The Seeds (neither of which became 'big' if I remember correctly). So the questions are:

a) Was it a regular publication and not a figment of my imagination?

cool.gif Has anybody got other copies and could they post them up for us to read (even if its only the record review bit)?

If this has been discussed before my apologies for raising it again, just point me in the direction of the topic and I'll read that.

Thanks.

Debbie- I have all four copies plus one just called Wigan Casino, i will get my other half Ian to post them up, as im not too good at this sort of thing!

boxing.gif 4 Copies I have just the 1 the first one? can the others be copied? as until I read this I always thought there was just the one? mind you I stopped going to Wigan in May 78? as it just was not the place to be anymore, however its amazing how many people started out on there soul journey in 78/9 and they are still supporting the present day scene so to them it was still the best place in the world?ph34r.gif DAVE KIL.

Yep, there were indeed 4 issues of Northern Noise...blue, green, red and yellow covers, and yes they were produced by Russ.

Sorry can't scan 'em as mine are in storeage...hopefully someone else can sort you out.

Thanks for posting this up. This is the issue I've got but can't find it in the attic at the moment. I got my anniversaries mixed up, I thought it was from around the 4th Oldies but the Mike Walker feature clearly puts it at the 7th anniversary, mind you, thinking about it now weren't they close together?

Not sure if anyone's interested, but I finally found my copy of Northern Noise that started this thread. I've scanned all of it and will attempt to post it up for folks to read.

It's interesting how very basic it is, and looks. Hard to believe it's for adults! It reminds me of a child's annual aimed at 6-9 year olds.  As for the content, predictable! Great to see it though! Nothing better than memorabilia 👍🏼☺️.  Fab!
