The Blackpool Mecca tune sounds right for a reactivation, "Trying To Get Back To You Girl" - Jackey Beavers - Dade 2041.

I'd be surprised if JBH got a release on 2035. His name is spelled Jimmie "Bo" Horn on the label on 2025.

Other notable 45s on the label would have to include those earlier than the 2000 series: Helene Smith "Demonstrate Your Love" Dade 1853; Clarence Reid "Push A Little Harder" Dade 1855; The Twans "I Can't See Him Again" Dade 1903; Yvonne Fair "Say Yeah Yeah" Dade 5006. The numbering system of the earlier 45s is a bit scattergun as there were basically two labels: those which were distributed locally by Henry Stone himself (some starting at 5000, though not all) and those picked up for national/regional distribution by Atlantic/Atco (the Twans and Yvonne Fair 45s have additional numbers apart from the Dade serial nos. which fit into Atlantic series run-downs and do not appear to have been issued locally).

A fun label to collect: I don't have anything like a complete set, but there are some great records among it all. Particular favourites are the Arnold Albury records, the Lynn Williams singles and the various Latimore 45s.

I would very much like to buy Benny Latimore "Ordinary Man" on Dade (as opposed to Atlantic) if anyone has one for sale.

Gareth,

Manships 3rd guide has the Jimmy "Bo" Horn track as Dade 235. The scan of the label in Million Dollas of Rare Soul looks like it might be 235, but my poor vision doesn't help

The 5000 series appear to be

5000 Ted Taylor - "Darling if you must leave/I lost the best thing I ever had"

5001 Jimmy Paris - "Esmerelda/Lost love"

5002 Sonny Til - "Someone up and told me/Open up your heart"

5003 Nat Hendrick and the Swans - "Wobble,wobble/Pt.2"

5004 Nat Hendrick and the Swans - "(Do the) mashed potato/Pt.2"

5005 Kitty Love - "The power of love/You gotta change"

5006 Yvonne Fair - "Straighten up/Say yeah yeah"

Hi Baz and Jaco

The confusion over Jimmie Bo Horn is that the record has two numbers: D-235 opposite the publishing credit and (2025) under the 'Produced by Brad Shapiro & Steve Alaimo" credit. The four figure number as opposed to the D number is its designation in the Dade series.

Gareth,

Fully understood, now.

Adding to the cake is the fact that Dade 2025 is occupied by two records: the aforementioned JBH super-rarity and the Atlantic-distributed white demo of Benny Latimore's "I'll Be Good To You". I've never seen a blue issue of that particular record as the issues all appear to be Dade 2026 with the newer, hand-drawn logo (as per JBH) and no mention of Atlantic distribution. I'm guessing it is the factor of the clashing numbers which explains the extreme rarity of "I Can't Speak."

i have a stupid question, I always thought the kitty love was a weird chicago licensed in production given that it's a chicago curtis mayfield written / anthor published thing but someone recently pointed out to me that it was just a cover of a chicago record, and now I can't remember who did the original. what is it a cover of? thanks.

ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY DIFFERENT DESIGN TO THE 2 WOEFUL BOOTS.

Had both of these two as well, but sold the Kitty Love years ago. Check out the other side "Call on me" Amanda Humphrey, in a similar style to Amanda's (Love) "You keep calling me by her name".

maybe lending more evidence to the (still totally unsubstantiated to me) rumor people have been saying here that amanda love is amanda humphrey. Why would a dade artist cover such an obscure chicago USA-label record? maybe they are also "kitty" love? weird. I will play all 3 back to back and compare voices.

According to Jeff Lemlich book, Savage Lost there is no 2035 release and JBH last release on Dade was 2031.

Bit of other info, all national releases were distributed by Atlantic except 2040 and 2041 which were distributed by TK.

Always interchanged the names without thinking, as they sound exactly the same artist. Sounds like others too?

R&B Indies also has these listed (not in Jeff's discog):

1823 The Charmettes Tonite I'm Lonely / Hearts Of Stone

1903 The Swans Darling Tell Me Why / I Can't See Him Again

2035 Jimmy Bo Horne I Can't Speak / Street Corners

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if I'm repeating something

2035 doesn't exist...does it? I don't know of a second release of ICS. Maybe it was scheduled to be the national release but never materialised. Anyone ever seen one on 2035?
