I.VE SEEN A RECORD FOR SALE AS A WHITE DEMO LISTED AS WHITE DEMO ON THE RED BIRD LABEL THE SELLER CLAIMS THIS IS A UK RELEASE. IVE LOOKED UP THE ORIGINAL RELEASE LABEL WHICH IS BLUE CAT. THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE BEING CONSIDERABLE, THE BRITISH DEMO BEING 50 OR SO QUID MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL AMERICAN RELEASE.CAN THIS BE RIGHT?OR IS THIS "UK" WHITE LABEL DEMO IN FACT AN OVERPRICED BOOTLEG BEIN KNOCKEDOUT BY A COMPLETE FUCKIN CHARLATAN? (NO NOT TIM BURGESS, OR THEM CHARLATANS.)THE REASON THIS IS BOTHERING ME IS THAT I SAW ANOTHER TUNE FOR SALE BY THE SAME PERSON. DONNY ELBERT,"SO SOON". WHICH IS ON A REISSUES LABEL JOEBOY WHICH I QUITE LIKE. I THOUGHT THOUGH THAT THE PRICE OF 25 QUID WAS A BIT STEEP . LO AND BEHOLD TODAY I SEE THE SAME TUNE ON SAME LABEL ON A DIFFERENT DEALERS SITE FOR UNDER A FIVER. THERE ARE MANY OTHER ANOMALIES ALL OF WHICH INCLUDE SUPPOSED RARE DEMOS FOR SALE WHICH DONT EVEN APPEAR TO BE ON THE RIGHT LABEL BUT ARE CLAIMED TO BE AUSTRALIAN OR DUTCH RELEASE OR FRENCH EP. AS WELL AS TWO WHITE LABEL DEMOS PURPORTEDLY TEST PRESSINGS OF AMERICAN TUNES ,ASKIN 25 AND 50 QUID. THING AS THE BLUE FELT TIP ON BOTH IS IN THE SAME FUCKIN HANDWRITING. NOW THERE OTHER STUFF FRO SALE FOR OVER TWO GRAND SO A DEFINIYIVE ANSWER WOULD HELP. WAS RED BIRD AN OFFICIAL RELEASE LABEL FOR THE AMERICAN BLUE CAT LABEL.

It's a Pye group demo, BC 118.

Looks like this...

'Take me...' is the A-side. 25 quid is cheap, I'd have thought.

I don't take any notice of what these records are 'listed for', I'd pay 50 for it, it's not worth 75. Price guides are a joke in the main. I pick up British records sometimes at a tenth of what they're listed for, and I mean out in the open on ebay. Having said that, I'd sell the Donnie Elbert for 15 quid.
