Guest john s Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I was looking at these - some great titles but a lot of them are pretty hammered!
Pete S Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 I was looking at these - some great titles but a lot of them are pretty hammered! Always the way though isn't it. I thought there was an awful lot of profit to be made from them, plus some fantastic records to keep and I think I'd have bought them if I had the money.

John Al Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 They are exciting! They are Pete and I drooled too when I saw them. Are you saying that they are worth more than the seller wants for them. Are you buying to sell on? Just trying to help - depending on answers, someone may come up with the dosh as an investment (sadly not me though ) John

Just trying to help - depending on answers, someone may come up with the dosh as an investment (sadly not me though ) John Well the latest news, someone did come up with the dosh but as a way to make a profit, so if all goes to plan, I'll get them and start selling them in a couple of weeks time, get the guy his investment back, make him some profit and keep the records I want!

Good for you Pete! Exactly what I expected to happen. Good guys are always worth investing in. Best, John.
Birder66 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 There wasn't a single "big" record in that lot, as far as I could see....and there was a lot of bad condition stuff. That said, if you managed to get £10-20 on average, then you'd be quids in.

Simsy Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Please explain. May I? It's just that on the whole, soul music is superior to reggae - esp to dance to.. Soul music you can step about to. reggae, well it's just lolly gagging about isn't it? Maybe with 'one on'

Soul music you can step about to. reggae, well it's just lolly gagging about isn't it? Maybe with 'one on' I don't know what the heck you're talking about, whats lolly gagging, is it a gay expression? I wouldn't know how to dance to reggae, I've never even been to a reggae do, but I was buying the music before I was buying soul and I like them both equally, I couldn't say one was superior to the other personally.
Birder66 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Don't make me laugh There wasn't hardly anything worth much more than £25, as far as I could see. Artibella on JA was the best record, but the condition was shot, as I recall. It might have been a good intro for a new-to ska/rocksteady/reggae UK label collector, but there was nothing much there for a ska/rocksteady DJ, is my point. I'll concede that a collection like that comes up less than once in a blue moon, but on the whole the condition didn;t seem to be very good. Still lots of opportunity to double your money though.
