As you know Nev, I don't even look anymore due to being too poor to buy :)

Is there a sound bite up for it?

Only there are two different versions and one is so unbelievably pants it gives Frank Wilson a run for his money! :g:

think John Parker has the other take, just the one known copy isn't there or am I thinking of a different record?

I don't know about there being one known copy Chalky but the other version came up for sale on Ebay ages ago and there was a thread about it on here.

Have just tried to do a search for it but it won't do it for some reason.

The other version is pants. It sounds totally unfinished. The copy that was up for sale had a badly damaged label and went for around £700 ish if remember correctly.

I could be out on the price but I am not out on the fact that there is another version.

thats the one I think Joan. Know it was talked about at the time, was there a sound clip with the auction item?

yeah remember it pretty sure John Parker got it. It was discussed on here so maybe a scan and soundfile can be found when search facility back and working.

amazing, isn`t /wasn`t it ? lately I noticed the phenomenon that due to numbers being down on interesting high end items on ebay(for several reasons) individual prices have gone up and tend to be higher then one would have thought. good for the sellers and fair enough.

why the surprise with the end price? Chris Anderton sold the 9 copies he brought back for £1500 didn't he, maybe he'll confirm if he reads this.

recession and the fact that there have been more then just only this one find by Chris Anderton would have made you think it won`t go that high. Then again and as I said above, the very limited amount of interesting high end prices are responsible for higher end prices on selected items at the moment.

I fully expected it to fetch at least 4 figures and I've seen little sign of a recession with some of the prices some records have fetched. It's still rare despite the 9 Chris sold and still a hard record to find and very desirable.

Oh so true Chalky

Shifty and I found our 10 copies in 2005 (I think), i did indeed keep one and the others were sold for £1500.

I was suprised it went for that amount I valued it at about £1000, but then again there has`nt been too many decent copies for sale since our 9 were sold 4 years ago which makes it a rare record in my opinion. Add to that that its a dance-floor winner and still massively popular and i can see how it went for such a price.

I think the record is a real grower, when we found our copies i knew of it but had never heard it...I played it and looked at Shifty and said "Are you sure this is it"!?

I love it now...and its a really fun record to play out too.

Hi Chris

Hope you well.

Think before you and Shifty found them was possibly about 5 known copies in the UK. Rod Shard and Alex Jones found 3 mint copies I think was very early 9ts (Alex kept one, Butch had one I think and I got one). I remember talking to someone about it at possibly the first cleethorpes and Andy Davies was stood next to us and said he had a copy that he had from the Bowl a few years earlier so that was the four I knew about at the time. Think Tim Brown got one a few years later.

Agree its a great little tune that has taken a while to eventually take off and I'm glad to see that it's going for this sort of cash.

Take it easy

Cheers

Cheers Phil...

In the same month we found the 10 copies Sam wrote in his column in Manifesto that Kings of soul was his biggest want and he would pay 2.5k for it. I was tempted to sell him one at that price then sell the others for 1500 quid!

Of course we didn`t...but i thought about it!

Shep, as i remember a couple of rougher looking copies did go thru ebay just after we sold ours at what now seems like a great price. Usual thing, a few copies turn up and some people shit themselves!

or cash in prehaps ? if its sat on the shelves and its going for a lot of money no better time to sell is there....

yes, desirable and definitely 4 figures but it did go for 2700 USD which is over 1600 UKP. So that did indeed surprise me.

If you try to sell a three figure 45 on here you will see big signs of recession soon.

But as I said, despite the copies Chris and others have found...stilla very rare and desirable 45 of course. Just wouldn`t have expected it to go that high (in these days) though.
