Ric Tic White Demos

I used to collect Ric Tic and I know the three wdjs shown in the scans here are very hard 45s to locate but does anyone have an idea on realistic values for them?? There's a topic on the Hitsville forum about Ric Tic demos which makes a great read but no prices are talked about on there....

I'd say first 45 quite desirable but no more than £40 [regular £5-8?] and the other two although hard to come across are around £20, bearing in mind regular issues are almost unsellable so only of interest to hardened collector I'd guess.

I can see the price of this going up with demand. The prices quoted seem about right

Cheers Rod, just remembered I never replied to your last PM....if I could think of a half decent excuse then I'd use it but in all honesty I just forgot! Thanks for the info, agree that they're really only of interest to RT collectors and yep you're right standard issues are next to impossible to sell......which is a shame cos I've got loads of them . I've started to think of possible uses for them and so far have come up with a few ideas:

1. Stiffeners for records that are sellable, bonus being I'll save money by not having to buy stiffeners.

2. Frisbees for the kids. However health and safety is a problem with this, stupid styrene shatters far too easily and into rather sharp splinters.

3. Let the kids paint them and use as an attractive wind chime or baby mobile.

I just played it Adam. It is OK. Nice midtempo Detroit. Add £10 to value of that demo. I was under the mistaken impression it was one of their ballads. Well 35+ years ago when I last heard the track it WAS a slowie compared to what we were listening to.

Desirable Ric-Tic DEMO's & Definitely not easy.

Only the second RT-129 DEMO that I have seen for Instance.

I Paid £50 for my copy back in 2006.

Some of the Ric-Tics are quite easy yet others virtually Impossible in any Condition.

It took ages to get to the point at Hitsville where we covered Just about every DEMO & Stock Copy.

You along with fellow collectors helped us in that quest, If other copies are out there they are proving EXTREMELY difficult to trace.

With Stock Copies worth only a few dollars, So difficult to Price & sadly doesn't always reflect just how rare some of these DEMOs are, as we found out with Ric-Tic 122 DEMO.

The RT-130 & RT-136 missing from my collection, and I suspect from other Ric-Tic collections.

Hope that you get a good price for them.

I would certainly bid, if I have the funds at the time.

The Hitsville thread was a really interesting one, like you say some of the wdjs seem almost impossible to locate. At one point I had quite a few in my collection but not many of them left now. I've actually got 2 copies of RT129 used to have 3 but traded one a few months back! RT136 is a real tough one, though I have seen a couple of others. In my experience RT130 is possibly the hardest of them all to find and I've never seen a copy other than my own.

I sent Dave Moore scans of a few Ric-Tic variants missing from the Hitsville listing including some missing promos - e.g. blue promo [i have white too] of 122, blue promo of 128, plus stuff like Laura Lee on Canadian RCA Victor.

I'm just waiting for Dave to post these before I send the next batch

I have several more different variants/formats, including several Canadian copies too.

I have number of additions to add to the Ric Tic discography on the Hitsville Forum when I get the time. I reckon it'll be the most comprehensive Ric Tic listing there is once it's all in place. Then we can lok to complete the Reo (Ric Tic) stuff too just to round it all off. It's a long slow process but we'll get there in the end.

On another note...anyone found a Bob and Earl - Everybody Jerk - Loma 20004 yet???? It's in all the listings but I've yet to see one. That's another Hitsville discography we're looking to put to bed.
