Philippe Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) I saw that Motown compilation on ebay : Motown British Chartbusters. Green vinyl makes me think it's recent, but I'm not an expert in UK pressings, so please, can someone tells me what's the year of release? Also, can you give me the track-listing ? TIA. pikeys dog Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 its a 1970s re-issue copy... they did a few in coloured vinyl...
Gene-r Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Originally released at the end of 1967 - this green vinyl reissue dates from around 1978. From memory, the tracks I remember on this are: Stevie Wonder - Blowin' In The Wind Supremes - You Keep Me Hangin' On Supremes - The Happening Martha & Vandellas - Jimmy Mack Supremes - Love Is Here & Now You're Gone Gladys Knight - Take Me In your Arms & Love Me ....basically, the biggest Motown hits in the UK between late '66 and mid '67.

paultp Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 its a 1970s re-issue copy... they did a few in coloured vinyl... I dunno if it is a myth, but my understanding is that due to the oil crisis in the 70's a lot of records were put out on coloured vinyl as it was cheaper than producing black. Anyone confirm that? Cheers Paul

Anyone confirm that? Cheers Paul It's feasible Paul - the Amoco Cadiz ran aground in March 1978, just at the time coloured vinyl was starting to be mass-produced in the UK. Now there's a thought...........
