Rob Wigley Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 ok a bit of fun get a 50 or a 100 box, stick loads of records you know, love DJ with etc in there, with the "Known side" facing forward. NOW TURN THE BOX AROUND TO FACE THE OTHER WAY and play each records "B" or "Otherside" in order and see what you find ! List or shout the best 5 or 10 on here and see who knows them, or if they have ever been played. 50 or a 100 "new" sounds for nowt ! and hours of free fun ! I'll do mine about the middle of next week ! Happy hunting Rob

But the most funny thing about this is to find that you've had a record for many many years and not once played "the other side"

Happy hunting Rob I've done this a few times and its amazing what turns up, my current fav B is 'Willing Mind' flip to EDWARD HAMILTON 'My Darling Baby' on MARY JANE and found that in exact way you describe. I deliberately dont play Bs off big sides for a while, just to have the pleasure of finding something nice a little bit further down the line! I also deliberately buy cheap 2,3,4 or 5 £ sides in junk shops blind - just to see what the B's are like and have found some great tunes like that. Perhaps my favourite of all time via that method is ARTHUR CONLEY 'Put Our Love Together', the B of 'Funky Street' a pretty dull tune but what a beautiful diamond of a midtempo flip!! Never heard it played out but one of my all time favourites on a 2 quid blinder five years ago. What a bunch of weirdos!
