Craig W
Your version is booked at £1200 in The Tim Brown guide. In my opinion nowhere near as good as The Marvellos effort which starts really slow but builds into superb tune. Hope this soundclip works. Link to comment Social source share

Guest
Mick H. played the Vashons at our club in May 2004. It's an OK tune I guess, but not quite good enough IMO. £1200? Many of these guide prices seem based on what the authors at one point or another forked out for the records as unknowns/obscurities, and the listed values do not seem to reflect any real market value based on supply and demand. A copy sold on ebay a couple of weeks ago for a few hundred. The 'northern' side is acceptable but mediocre IMO. I actually much prefer the 50's/early 60's doo wop sounding flip (the top side is very doo wop too of course), musically more enjoyable and with a stronger and much more soulful vocal performance. Bum, bum, bum, bum, deng, deng, dang, dong, doo wop is great, very strong vocals. I am serious. Link to comment Social source share

Guest Dan
Thanks all Christian, can't say i like the b side but it takes all sorts i spose Craig, you're having a giraffe, it pisses all over the marvellos (which is very good in places, good in others but dreadful in most) Pete agree the intro is a bit suspect but the harmonies are nice Must say 1200 quid seems a lot though Link to comment Social source share

Guest
Thanks all Christian, can't say i like the b side but it takes all sorts i spose Please note I do not consider it any kind of northern! The vocals are far superior and it is just better music, the top side is just a standard nothing-special-in-any-way-sort-of-tune, pretty dull even, whereas the flip is at least a bit of fun. I like real doo wop actually, it is very good sometimes, very strong vocals and harmonies, even if it is not what I want to hear when I go out. I think you should sell the record and buy something better. Link to comment Social source share
