The Marvellos version is "We go together" on Loma 2045.

It is on my CD from the recent CD swap. Did you get yours OK Dan ?

Will see if I still have it on my PC if not will dig the record out and put up a soundclip.

do you know what craig, that's been bugging me!

i have got your cd (and it's brilliant by the way, though the spiral tracklisting is likely to get at least two or three of us killed through trying to read it while driving i'd say).

when going through some records last night to do another cd for someone, inc this vashons, i though it sounded familiar but couldn't work out where i'd heard it from...now i know!

thanks

cheeky bugger some nice voices on it

Your version is booked at £1200 in The Tim Brown guide. In my opinion nowhere near as good as The Marvellos effort which starts really slow but builds into superb tune.

Hope this soundclip works.

When it started I thought it was a Gerry & The Pacemakers b side...

Mick H. played the Vashons at our club in May 2004. It's an OK tune I guess, but not quite good enough IMO. £1200? Many of these guide prices seem based on what the authors at one point or another forked out for the records as unknowns/obscurities, and the listed values do not seem to reflect any real market value based on supply and demand. A copy sold on ebay a couple of weeks ago for a few hundred. The 'northern' side is acceptable but mediocre IMO. I actually much prefer the 50's/early 60's doo wop sounding flip (the top side is very doo wop too of course), musically more enjoyable and with a stronger and much more soulful vocal performance. Bum, bum, bum, bum, deng, deng, dang, dong, doo wop is great, very strong vocals. I am serious.

Mixed thoughts on it. Like it in some places but not others.

Sounds better after a couple of plays.

PS well impressed by Craig's avitar though.

That if I'm not mistaken is the legendary 'Johnny Seven' A true weapon to behold.

Singer and backing ok, but that guitarist needs shooting.

Thanks all

Christian, can't say i like the b side but it takes all sorts i spose

Craig, you're having a giraffe, it pisses all over the marvellos (which is very good in places, good in others but dreadful in most)

Pete agree the intro is a bit suspect but the harmonies are nice

Must say 1200 quid seems a lot though

Please note I do not consider it any kind of northern! The vocals are far superior and it is just better music, the top side is just a standard nothing-special-in-any-way-sort-of-tune, pretty dull even, whereas the flip is at least a bit of fun. I like real doo wop actually, it is very good sometimes, very strong vocals and harmonies, even if it is not what I want to hear when I go out. I think you should sell the record and buy something better.
