As part of my new found desire to sell all my vinyl I thought I would do a weekly 'Highly Recommended' sales thread. I'm going to use this to focus on 2 or 3 records. I'll be picking out 45s that seem to be lesser known/forgotten/underplayed etc or stuff that is IMO just quality.
Prices inc UK postage, add £1 to them if it's being posted outside the UK. Prefer paypal on thes if poss.
IMPORTANT: Where the track has already been posted in Refosoul I'm using those which means you may be hearing a soundfile that has noise/pops etc. All the 45s I am selling here are guaranteed to play as I have graded them not as they sound on the refosoul soundfile.
Will try and do a mix of 60s/70s etc but this week I'm kicking things off with three 60s winners:
Fantastic Four - Pin Point It Down - Soul
Well known group on a major label so why is this unknown to a surprisingly large number of people? It's a dancer of sheer quality and deserves to get played out on a far more regular basis. From the very first note it grabs you and doesn't let you go until the very last note fades away! As you would expect these guys the vocal is superb with sublime male harmonies gliding along in the background. All this combined with a backing that lacks for nothing. Basically if you don't know this then bloody well listen to it...
Price: £20
Condition: EX+ bb hole small sticker stain on label
Quantity Available: SOLD OUT!!
Major Lance - Do The Tighten Up - Dakar
I was lucky enough to pick up a few mint copies of this a few months back, popped one into my DJ box and the others into my sales box ready for the next time I headed out. That just happened to be an all nighter at Bishops Wood and in my usual sales style I forced anyone foolish enough to get within talking distance of me to listen to it. There were some serious collectors and DJs in that night but only one of them knew this! The others bought it. OK so the title isn't exactly promising but believe me this 1968 up tempo delight has everything else right.
Price: £25
Condition: M-
Quantity Available: SOLD OUT!!
Magic Tones - It's Better To Love - Mah's (red label)
Detroit has produced some outstanding Northern Soul tracks and this stupidly cheap 45 is no exception. But like so many others it's been somewhat overlooked, maybe because it isn't rare, and never will be? Or maybe because it's seen as being too cheap to be worthy? I'm always being told by people that the price is never a consideration it's all about the quality.....but surely if that was really true then I would have sold this record in quantity as nobody can listen to this and tell me it's not a quality piece of mid tempo northern???
Price: £5 yep £5 and that includes the postage!
Condition: I have small quantity of this 45, unplayed store stock. But labels on all have slight damage from being stored somewhere damp, nothing serious though.
