Guest Kill_a_pig Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I have a Pye demo of "What can I say" but I am 100% sure it also came out on another label as I traded it in 20 plus years ago but cannot remember that label (Direction?). Not having any knowledge beyond buying what I like and hunting down an original, I have agonised over this for years - did I trade the first press and is the Pye copy the second press? While I am displaying my lack of knowledge, I have always wondered about Skip Black "I done you wrong". I have never seen it on any list ever, and can only presume it is a super rarity. Any help on prices/seniority greatfully aknowledged.
Soul-slider Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 'What can I Say' originally came out on President in 1968 as 'Crying All Night'. It was then released as 'What Can I Say' on Pye in 1972. Funny, I've just bought the Pye one but haven't played it yet....I'm hoping it's the same as the President one that I also had and let go many years ago.

As I have long suspected, the Pye release was indeed the second impress then. I have now secured a President demo, so thank you for that.
Kevinkent Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Watson T. Browne I've had some of his stuff on Okeh and on Seven Suns, but don't recall which titles. I'll have a dig and see what I can find out. We had Watson perform for us at the Nostalgia Bar in Folkestone in 2005. He now resides in Folkestone, Kent, and still has a half decent voice but sadly for our booking he prefered to ramble off mid-song into reminiscing, and talking about his neighbour. I might even have donated my vinyl to him, but will check. -Kev
