Guest Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 (edited) Anthony White " Im So Much In Love With You " / " Yes You Need Love " I was trawling through a release listing for Philadelphia International , when I something came to my attention that I had not noticed before : why does the same record have two different - and consectutive - release numbers ? 3590 Anthony White " Im So Much In Love With You " / " Yes You Need Love " 3591 Anthony White " Im So Much In Love With You " / " Yes You Need Love " Over to you ...... Daryl Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 WHICH CONTAINS THE AWESOME STOP AND THINK IT OVER, ONLY AVAILABLE ON THIS LP. BEST, BRI. If it had Hey Baby on it would be one of the best lps ever imo
Ernie Andrews Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Never get away from me - is also quite a hard one as its only available on the issue copy. The Lp version is longer I think!
Steve Plumb Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 If it had Hey Baby on it would be one of the best lps ever imo Agree! 'Hey baby' instead of the title track and it would be a 100% classic Soul LP (imho)............as it is, it's only a 90% classic Soul LP Cheers Steev
phillyDaveG Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Ok first up. I'm prepared to be proved wrong, but the release was 3590 - There was no release number 3591. Secondly, as Ernie says release 3574 Anthony White "Never repay your love"/"Never let you get away from me" is also a hard one to find. However, the version of "Never let..." is actually longer on the 45 than on the LP, hence it's desirability. PS. Yes, it's an awesome LP.

The list I have states both # 3590 and # 3591 as being Anthoby White , as well as Dave Rimmer's " Soulful Kinda Music " listing for PIR . Malc Burton

STRANGE ONE THIS, USED TO HAVE THE 45 NEVER REPAY/NEVER LET YOU GET AWAY, BUT WHEN I BOUGHT THE LP FOUND THAT THE VERSION OF NEVER LET YOU GET AWAY IS MUCH....WELL OVER TWO MINUTES SHORTER THAN THE 45 VERSION AND IMHO BETTER SO SADLY THE 45 WENT OUT THE DOOR . BRI PINCH. SUNDAY CHILLOUT, 16TH AUGUST, HORSE AND GROOM PUB, EAST LAITH DATE, DONCASTER.
Sebastian Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Ok first up. I'm prepared to be proved wrong, but the release was 3590 - There was no release number 3591. The 7" release was 3590 and the (perhaps proposed?) 12" releases was 3591. When PIR issued both a 7" and a 12" of a song they usually gave them consecutive numbers as shown by the scans and listings below for Edwin Birdsong, Silk and Bobby Rush. That's most likely what happened with the Anthony White 3590/3591 release as well. Can't say that I've seen any 12"s of that title, but I haven't really been looking either. 3590 : ANTHONY WHITE - "Im So Much In Love With You"/"Yes You Need Love" (7") 3591 : ANTHONY WHITE - "Im So Much In Love With You"/"Yes You Need Love" (12") 3670 : EDWIN BIRDSONG - "Phizz Phizz"/"Goldmine" (7") 3671 : EDWIN BIRDSONG - "Phizz Phizz"/"Goldmine" (12") 3690 : SILK - "Midnight Dancer"/"Get On Up" (12") 3691 : SILK - "Midnight Dancer"/"Get On Up" (7") 3694 : BOBBY RUSH - "I Wanna Do The Do"/"Hey Western Union Man" (12") 3695 : BOBBY RUSH - "I Wanna Do The Do"/"Hey Western Union Man" (7")
Dave Pinch Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 think you`re right on the money there seb. i have looked for a 12 of yes you need love and never seen it so it was probably shelved. but lets face it , neither side was `disco` enough to warrant a 12 release dave
phillyDaveG Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Ok all. I believe I have the definitive P.Int release list. As Sebastien stated, it may well have been cited to be a 12" release. However, none exist.

So it's very unlikely that 3591 was planned to be a 12" at all, let alone the Anthony White, as it was too early for a 12". Also, they only did this consecutive 7/12" numbers thing on a handful of occassions (those shown above are the only examples), more often the 7" had the same release number as the 12".
