Granted there are some very very knowledgable people on the scene and also on here...but there are just too many records i.e semi knowns e.t.c, for ANYONE to know it all. ooh and the record i mentioned was " susan Coleman, age of the wolf"..big Russ casino sound mid 70s on Remmix. Nobody has heard or knows everything. I heard a story that Tim Brown set out to collect every northern soul record once but soon gave up. There might be fewer new discoveries but there are always plenty of new to these ears sounds. Warming up for These Old Shoes (before anyone came in ) many moons ago, I played my Dena Barnes boot (I was annoying Jo again). Matt Jahans (where is he now? love to say hello again) came rushing over to find out what it was, said it was the best record he had ever heard. Very refreshing. Guest Brett F Posted June 12, 2009 Share Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) I've got all four volumes of the excellent Bob McGrath's R'n'B Indies and it covers most (not all) Rhythm and Blues releases from the late 40's to the modern day, not certain how many are listed but it must be over 500/600/700,000 ? individual singles.......No one can have possibly heard every one of them and the others not listed...............There just isn't enough time to listen to every single soul record even if you had access to them all..which nobody on HEAVEN, EARTH.....or HELL......HAS. JOHNNYBETCHA Posted June 19, 2009 Share Posted June 19, 2009 i gotta tell you its hard! i've just spent 13 years in Sing Sing for a crime i didn't commit and luckily my soullly mate supplied me with 205 dvd's filled with northern soul songs and ive listened to em constantly. - i really enjoyed the experience and have learned to dance in a 3ftx3ft space - the overall winner was third finger left hand and get on your knees was second - but my wife says i've lost the plot - i say i like wba and remeber the casino as a cultural experience - reckon i can be cured? In the end each persons interpretation of what they see as soul is different then all we can do is develop a liking for that we find to our taste, nobody can know it all There are many wise sages who are found deep in discussion at events, a large data base of known tunes is no guarentee that they will be good 'un's. Just look at what garbage has been played and tipped over the years, by the good and the great. I know friends who have been going as long as me, but never wanted to know any more than their faves, yet i know they love the music as much as i do, or indeed do the real record buffs. I AM DEEPLY MOVED AND LOVE AND LIVE MY MUSIC, OTHERS ARE MORE DETATTCHED , IN THEIR APPRECIATION, BUT STILL HAVE DIVEN MAJOR PARTS OF THEIR LIFE TO ITS PERSUIT. Just enjoy it , i'm learning all the time, 35 plus years and still hearing amazing records for the first time....theres stacks to still come, ok as time progresses the ratio of good to bad lessens, but good makes it all worthwhile Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

She knows that football is a waste of my time and she realizes that going out for beers with the lads and coming home late is pointless.Not sure if i want to grow up just yest (i still love her, tho) and no she won't be reading this.
