Yes it does contain Back Street, didnt that use to get hammered at Station Road in the late 70's, as a cover up ? The original album Love City - 1979 Cotillion Records, didnt it get reissued via Soul Brother Records sometime ago.

phillyDaveG Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Essential LP, produced by the superb Michael Stokes; RONN MATLOCK "LOVE CITY" (1979 COTILLION) (Prod. Michael Stokes) Top tracks - "I can't forget about you"/"Feeling something"/"Take me to the top (of your mountain)"/"You got the best of me" "I can't forget.." is the top track for me.

Benji Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Must dig out the Ron Matlock album tonight. Bought it for "You got the best of me" and never really paid attention to the other tracks. Likewise the Luther album, bought for "Don't want to be your fool" and never played the other tracks. Do I deserve a slap on the wrist now?

Guest mel brat Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Some so-called "chart records" actually only featured in the lower US R&B charts and didn't sell in huge quantities at all. Incidently, the Luther track was played as a new release by ex Catacombs DJ Graham Warr, at Chaplin's Jazz Funk nights in 1977 Edited June 21, 2009 by mel brat
Ian Dewhirst Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Likewise the Luther album, bought for "Don't want to be your fool" and never played the other tracks. Do I deserve a slap on the wrist now? Worse than that Benji. You should be blowtorched by addled crack freaks for failing to play "Follow My Love". Please play immediately and you may avoid a horrible torture....... Ian D

Ian D but they still would have sold a few to the public and copies would have been trashed or maybe a little bit beat (like my issue of jessie james with the previous owners name on it). i cant think of a r n b chart record that is rare jessie james, beloyd, bottom and co certainly arn`t dave

Ian D Well guys, better get all those knifes blowtorches, stones, ropes, tar and feather ready. Can't find neither Ron Matlock nor Luther on the shelves. This means at one time I considered both to be not that good and put them in my storage room a few miles down the road. To make up for that crime to quality soul music I played a few Gladys Knight and Maxine Brown tracks last night
