I have come across a few copies of The London Soul Circular that used to be distributed in the late 8ts that feature record reviews, gig guides, news and playlists from Ian Clark, Robin Salter, Chris Huggins, Graeme Ellis. Really enjoyable reading mate. I was a regular at all of those London gigs at the time, and when you look back at the quality of what was being played it's stands up really well.

Graeme Ellis coming down and playing Carl Hall and Bobby Dukes just blew us away.

The early Fleetwood weekenders were to my mind some of the best times I've ever had. A great mix of knowledgeable punters, people having fun, being daft (and that's just Ivor Jones).

Hearing 'Flowers- for real' for the first time and Richard Searling playing charen Cotton to a dancefloor of about 1000 people, great days.

Mark, great to read these now much older and valued circulars, priceless record reviews and playlists - thanks. I have to agree with Binsy, like many of us around during this period, for me it was the best times. Rich in quality records, knowledgeable social punters who intergrated and shared, no pockets or divisions back then.

Look at the venues we all attended during this period - Fleetwood, Thorne, Dingwalls, The Queens Hall, Parkers, Soul Sanctury etc etc and that's just a few without too much thought. I know we discussed this via email Mark on Independent movement, earlier this year........................the very greatest of times.

Strange coincidence - my son went to a charity music night on HMS Belfast on Saturday night and had a great time and I told him about going to a Soul night there back in the late 80's or early 90's and then I click onto the London Soul Circular link and there it is advertised in the gig guide along with a few other venues I visited- Spooky.
