LP sadly not in the best shape, plays through, has crackles and pops and a kink in the vinyl, but still listenable. Lovely UK maroon OG issue. Rare LP. Gerard La Viny A La Foire De Basse Terre (Aux Ondes - Fr) EX- 12.00 A very rare LP from this collectable artist, incs: "Papa Papa" and "Ce Saint-Claude" - driving french tropical grooves. Pierre Leduc Information (Elysee) VG++ Just Sold Wow - modal Jazz bomb rarity. wax looks very clean but has some light crackle in quiet parts. Check "Cimco" now that's the one, sparse & haunting beautiful piano. Rare LP. Can email a soundclip if interested. Clean Sleeve, has drill hole. Never turns up. ELS-5003, from Late 60s Canada. Various Cuban Musicians Cuba Alegre (Areito - Cuba) EX 30.00 LPA 1063 brown label Cuban original and very rare LP in clean condition, so sought after for the Peruchin cut, "Melodia Oriental" . Night Blooming Jazzmen Freedom Jazz Dance (Mainstream- UK) M- Just Sold The title track is great Funk Jazz, with Willie Bobo, Charles Kynard, Blue Mitchell ++, clean gatefold sleeve, clean wax. Grupo Cubano de Musica Introducing (Panart - Cuba) G 20.00 Moderna With Frank Emilio, Gustavo Tamayo & Tata Guines. Includes: The truly amazing "Gandinga, Mondongo y Sandunga". Split seams. Mono White Label LD310312, so tough and then very expensive to turn up clean, seriously legendary stuff. Solid press vinyl looks worn and has numerous scratches & has background noise but on that track for example - it really does play OK and is still very listenable. Patt Britt Quintet Jazz from San Francisco (Doblon - Spain) EX+ 25.00 Great Jazz LP from this Alto Sax player. Spanish issue of a rare US Private press, this copy is a much cleaner and better sounding pressing. Sought after for : "Ahmad's Turban" & the real real good "Bostwick's Little Bag" Clean vinyl. One Inch Spanish price sticker on front. Seldom seen this LP, serious. Lonnie Sattin In Brazil - Sings Bossa Nova - Warm and True (Scepter) EX 70.00 Includes "Caravan" - such a superb lush vocal Jazz Dance version. The best vocal version. Truly stunning. Has a light line mark, probably from inner sleeve removal, does not affect play at all. Hardly ever turms up. A vintage Colin Curtis spin & Djangos classic. Manchester! Joe Quijano & his The worlds most exciting Latin... (Cesta) EX Just Sold Fantastic Conjunto Cachana Hard Hitting Club Latin masterpiece. Rare US Bronx Original. Includes the Mambo Jazz cut "El Rompecabeza" such a big punchy sound, searing horns and such a tight band. Plus "Mani Tostao". The one LP from Joe that seldom turns up. Very Rare Blue Label Cesta CE-1000, writing on back of sleeve and sticker on label. Stan Tracey Under Milk Wood (Steam UK) VG+ 6.00 Incs: Starless and Bible Black, updated versions here from 1976, Jazz Suite inspired by Dylan Thomas. Count Basie Afrique (Flying Dutchman) EX+ 14.00 The Counts last Studio LP I think and a great LP with a kind of spiritual Black Jazz feel, incs: "Kiliminjaro", "Gyspy Queen" and "African Sunrise" - This is a lovely white Flying Dutchman promo that looks like it's never seen a platter, Great Sleeve art - gatefold. An old UFO Tokyo spin. Larry Young Contrasts (Blue Note) VG+ 15.00 BST 84266, Blue and White label Liberty Stereo Press. Quite a heady mix, one female vocal, some quite free pieces but the cooker for me was the cut "Majestic Soul" title says it all - heavy one. Clean glossy vinyl, has one light mark across one side that does not affect play. Noro Morales Como Esta (Tico SLP1068) VG 14.00 Rarer one from Noro the master: "Bongoru" and "Papa Boco" great clubby mambo jazz cuts, Vinyl plays VG+, has a few light marks, sleeve has clean front, water damage on reverse that doesn't touch the artwork or text. Original early Orange Tico. Aida Isalbe La Cancion Tambien Se Dice (Areito - Cuba) VG+ 15.00 Seriously Rare Piece from Cuba, with Cachaito, Tata Guiness, Frank Emillio etc, sought after for the very different sounding cut: "Viene La Comparsa" with it's spoken intro and Corneta line. The rest of the LP is a very relaxed. Eddie Harris Live at Newport (Atlantic) VG+ 10.00 Incs: "Get Down Brother" with it's Drum and Sax Head nod intro beat - like it. Small cutout and one inch bottom seam split. Rolando Baro Y su Danzonera (Areito - Cuba) VG+ 5.00 Just classic Cuban, 1987 LP. Shleu Shleu Les Shleu Shleu (Shleu Shleu) VG 15.00 Strangely the same sleeve art as Nico Gomez's Ritual, rare and amazing LP this, "L' Evangile" is the cut, very distinctive driving tropical rhythmn from this acclaimed Haitian artist, can imagine a dancefloor on fire to this one, almost Afrobeat in its groove and appeal. Plays VG+ Not sure what the country of issue is - Haiti maybe... Shleu Shleu Devinez (Mini) VG 8.00 Here he is again, do like this bands sound, "Dans la Vie" being the best here. US issue of a rare earlier original. Pressing plays with light noise. Sexy Girl with legs over a bongo sleeve! Los Orientals de Paramonga Con Sabor Tropical (Sono Radio Peru) VG+ 20.00 Here we have some rare Peruvian business, great cooking Latin Jazz Salsa track in "San Praticio" with lovely breakdown and piano riff - very unique. Incendiary for the floor for sure. Has a bit of noise, but DJ'able with. Marker on label, bottom seam needs a bit of glue. Melvin Price Jazzballetrytmer (Price - Swe) EX 50.00 Released on Melvyns own label, a private press percussion and bass masterpiece. Often regarded as his greatest LP. Very Hard to Find! PR 1001 Sweden 1969, incs: the hypnotic groove of "Modern Jazz Rhythms" Relentless bass 'n bongo session, for DJs, samplers and connoisseurs alike. Bossa Jazz Trio Bossa Jazz Trio Vol. 2 (Fermata - Brasil) VG Just Sold Wow, one of Brasil's tuffest trio LPs, what a sound, so tight, great overall LP (all good) but two real stand out cuts here "Zero Hora" and Baden Powells' "Canto de Ossanha" "Zero Hora" is truly amazing music, almost classical introduction then BAM, the bassline, piano and were off - and in heaven. Rare Black Label Brasil Fermata Original, lots of marks, plays strong. Iconic Sleeve art (blank on reverse) - buy it. Sexteto De Jazz Moderno Bossa Nova (RCA Victor Brasil) VG+ Just Sold Rare instrumental sextet from early 60s feat. Jorginho & Aurino on saxes, Fats Elpidio on piano, Plinio Araujo on drums. Versions on classic bossa themes "Samba de uma nota so", "Barquinho", "Samba Toff", "Desfinado"... seen this LP for 200 euro before now! - Real Great Stuff. Frank Hernandez El Pavo (Dejavu - Italy RI) M- 18.00 Reissue of super rare LP from renowned talent. So many cuts, "Merengue Blues" being my fave. Save yourself £400 and get this. New Copy, heavy sleeve and vinyl - nice. Kenny Cox & Contemporary Introducing (Blue Note) VG+ 18.00 Jazz Quintet Stereo BST 84302 Blue & White Liberty Audition Pressing, Duke Pearson Produced. Superb Jazz, incs: the soul jazz masterpiece "Trance Dance" with very nice tenor work from Leon Henderson. Small bit of pen on reverse artwork. Horace Silver In Pursuit of the 27th Man (Blue Note) VG+ 10.00 You gotta love Mr. Silver with his distinctive sound. Stereo BN LA054-F Blue & White VG Deadstamp. Great LP, incs: Wedon Irvine's "Liberated Brother" "Strange Vibes" and the superb pacey title track. Gatefold Sleeve has taped spine. Gil Evans Svengali (Atlantic) VG+ 7.00 Incs the DJ Krush sampled Funk Head Nod Fusion Jazz of "Thoroughbred" Cover has taped seams. Gardner Lalanne Et Les Loups Noirs Sont Partout (Shango - Haiti / NY) VG+ 18.00 Superb tropical sounds from Haiti - very rare LP, such an indemand sound nowadays and rightly so, includes the masterpiece of "Martinica" - might have an MP3 knocking about if you need one - just ask. Superb. Small bit of writing on sleeve. Coffee Butler & The Cups Let Em' Talk (TLT) EX 80.00 Insanely rare private press Funk / Soul LP. Recorded at the Holiday Inn, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and includes a heavy club funk version of "Butter your Popcorn" with great spoken intro. Also a decent medley of Knock on Wood / Respect. You never see this LP. Autographed by Coffee Butler too. This was going to be a Sticky Records first 45 many years ago but Mr. Butler wasn't interested! Blue Mitchell Boss Horn (Blue Note) EX Just Sold BLP 4257 Original Stereo Liberty Issue of great LP, the one with Dave Burns solid Soul Jazz composition "Rigor Mortez", clear tape on bottom and spine seams, price sticker on front. Top all round Blue Note LP with an iconic Wolf / Miles sleeve. Esther Marrow Newport News, Virginia (Flying Dutchman) EX+ Just Sold Stunning clean gatefold original copy of this amazing LP with so many killer sister funk club bangers: "Walk Tall" "Satisfied" "Chains Of Love" "Mama" and the perrenial indemander "Money Honey" - top top LP at a good price, have seen at over double this price. Donald Byrd Fancy Free (Blue Note) VG+ 20.00 Stereo BST 84319 Original Issue of great LP, Incs: "The Weasil" & "The Uptowner" etc. Thought this had to be Idris providing those driving drums but its actually Joe Chambers... Clear tape on bottom seam, light ringwear. Top all round Blue Note LP with breakbeat appeal. Jacques Loussier Pulsion (CBS - UK) EX+ 5.00 Loaded with Piano Stabs and hard crisp drums, open breaks ripe for the taking - a real beatdiggers dream. Eric Kriss Blues Fusion - Music Minus One Piano (MMO) EX Just Sold Similar in style to the best Jamey Abersold stuff, has the wicked Hard Drums Funk Track of 'Tricky Dicky' with it's tight bass, great Fender Rhodes and with channel separation for the producers - but a great DJ tool in it's own right, rest of tracks are all sample fodder too. Sleeve has taped top and bottom seams. Johnny Griffin Vol. 2 (Blue Note RI) EX 8.00 B1-81559 US Barcoded reissue LP of superb rare original. Just beauiful Jazz with Mr. Blakey, Mobley, Chambers, Kelly, Coltrane & Morgan - wow. Noro Morales Latin Dance Time (Grand Prix) EX 7.00 The Noro LP with 2 Ruff Tuff Mambo's - 'Norin Noron' and 'Mississipi Mambo' - real good hard piano Latin, not expensive as the LP seems to turn up quite a bit on a few different presses. Cool Clean Sleeve. George Benson Beyond the Blue Horizon (CTI GATEFOLD) EX 10.00 The LP with that breakbeat drums version of "So What" - Heavy. Cool very clean sleeve. War Youngblood (Soundtrack) (MCA Promo UK) EX+ 10.00 Incs: "Flying Machine" - early 90s jazz club spin. Cuban Carnival - Various Ten classics of Latin Rhythm (HMV UK 10" ) M- 10.00 Super rare UK ten inch - plays at 33. HMV DLP 1072 in MINT condition with original paper inner. Emil Richards Spirit of 1976 (Impulse - Black) VG Just Sold Seldom seen Impulse LP, has noise, incs: decent version of "All Blues". The Alegre All Stars They Just Don't Makim Like Us Anymore (Barbaro- Ven) EX+ 10.00 Amazing & such a classic of a Latin LP. Includes all the major players who offer up some blistering Descarga's (5 of em!!) A Venezulaun copy of US Alegre LP but pressed very clean and loud: check "El Manicero", "Yumbambe", "El Sopon", and the Mambo cut to "Manteca" all with cool vocal interludes and introductions. Grover Washington Jr. Reed Seed (Motown) VG+ 5.00 The one with "Loran's Dance" as used by ATCQ - sweet little tune. Sleeve is VG, has cut out and spine wear. Roy Ayers Ubiquity He's Coming (Polydor UK RI) EX 6.00 Classic, recentish lookalike reissue of rare original - "We live in Brroklyn Baby" "Sweet Tears" "Fireweaver" etc . Johnny Hammond Higher Ground (CTI) VG++ Just Sold Incs: wicked dancefloor funk jazz of title and "Big Sur Suite", which has been the source for so many rap tracks - tunes. 3 clear taped seams. Bargain for an original issue. James Brown LIVE at The Garden (King / Black) G+ 8.00 Another marvelous JB LP, wax is quite noisy and has a fair few scratches, a great LP nevertheless, track after track is a classic - Original Black Label with Crown - King 1018. Fair price. Sleeve is VG - 1" tear on front and botch job taped bottom seam! Joe Thomas The Ebony Godfather (Today) EX Just Sold Real Good Flute lead Funky Jazz, just check for "Chitlins & Cuchifritos" or "Every Brother Ain't a Brother" - Original that's cheaper than a reissue! Ray Bryant Sound Ray (Cadet) EX- 6.00 Richard Evans produced from '69, incs: "Stick With it", "Song for My Father" and "Con Alma" Underrated LP, soild production, small sticker and little bit of tape on sleeve. Freddie Hubbard Sky Dive (CTI) EX- 5.00 Loping Funk Jazz on "Povo" as used by Black Sheep back in the day, sweet CTI classic tune for a Summer chill. Gatefold. Red Garland Trio Rojo (Status) VG 6.00 Quality 60s Jazz piece especially on title cut. Ray Barretto on Conga. Status / Prestige 7193 US release. Vinyl looks clean enough with some marks, but plays with quite a bit of staticy noise, I've tried a clean, maybe you could do better. reduced right down. Also "Light my Fire" etc - class 70s afro sleeve. Arnett Cobb The Wild Man from Texas (Home Cooking) M- 7.00 Excellent Funk Jazz on this seldom seen LP from Firey Texan Sax Man - "Medussa", "Big T" etc. Bargain. Dudley Moore The World of Dudley Moore (Decca UK) EX+ 4.00 UK stereo LP, Dud did some good tracks and "Sooz Blooz" on here is one of them. Very nice, almost Mary Lou Trio Sound. Various Modern Music from San Francisco (Fantasy '87) M- 2.00 1987 Reissue on Red Wax, modally & straight ballads but good Jazz - Incs: Vince Guraldi Quartet and Ron Cotty Trio. Juan Perez 'Periquin' Al Elstilo de Everado Ordaz (Suave) VG+ 7.00 Incs: "La Comparsa" & "Decarga Tropical" - 2 real good Cacaho-esque rare latin dancers, obscure LP, slightly cloudy Miami press. Isaac Hayes Soundtrack - Tough Guys (Enterprise) VG+ 4.00 Great Blaxpoitation Soundtrack from the Film "Three Tough Guys" samples galore, check the B-Boy classics "The Red Rooster" and "Buns O' Plenty" plus theres the wicked track Patrick Forge used to spin "Run Fay Run" which sounds baad over a PA. Gatefold Sleeve has creasing, taped bottom seam and water damage - wax plays just fine. Shorty Rogers and His Giants Vol.1 (RCA France RI) M- 3.00 Bargain but good selection: Incs: The Novel 50's Mambo insanity of "Mambo del Crow" a real old skool latin classic, Happy Jazz Show playlisted a few months back - bargain reissue Compilation. Shorty Rogers Shorty Rogers and His Giants (HMV 10") VG- 6.00 UK 50's Ten Inch (DLP 1058), plays at 33. Crazy little package this, pure UK rare nostalgia and manages to include in there a unique zany but amazing club Mambo - "Mambl del Crow" - quite worn but plays OK really. Reissue LP on this list too. Sleeve has full seam split at bottom. Buddy Rich Curcio / I Giganti Del Jazz (I Giganti Del Jazz) EX+ 6.00 Number 81 in that gatefold Italian Jazz series, with great cut of "Chameleon" with Sal Nistico, Kenny Barron and Sonny Fortune. Freddie Hubbard Liquid Love (Columbia) EX 8.00 Title track as used by Justin Wharfield back in the day & real good funky fusion jazz. Sly Stone High on You (UK Epic) EX 8.00 Incs: "Crossword Puzzle" - De la Soul sampled and a great dancefloor cut. Crusaders Best of The Crusaders (ABC - Double) EX+ 2.00 Great Bargain Double LP compilation feats: "Stomp & Buck Dance", "Ballad for Joe Louis", "Soul Caravan" plus more, sleeve is clean but does have biggish sticker.
