Guest Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 When l'm at a club and a great tune comes on,l would never dream of making sure it's an original before l danced to it and l don't think l've ever seen a dancer do that either. Dancing is dancing and collecting is collecting (That remark was so blatently f***in' obvious.) What do you think?

Nickg Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Wake up,you might read something you haven't seen before! I doubt it, the subject matter has been trawled over numerous times, use the search facility and have a browse

Pete S Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Not got a clue how to do that, but thanks anyway I've been telling you to try that for a month! See where it says 'site search' top right? Cos, interesting as they are, 90% of your topics have already been done, and while it's fun to revive some, this one here is possibly the most overdone topic ever in Soul Source. But hey, nothing wrong with being enthusiastic...I was like that once.

Ernie Andrews Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Dead simple this one - Who ever dances to boots ! Shoot the F**kers- All of them! And string up the DJ who played them and cut off his meat & 2 veg and if its female (Cos Im an equalatist) CUT off her Hair and tar & feather her! Then slap her with a large wet Haggis!(& I dont care if the Haggis protection society wants to cut my balls off!)
Guest ritchie Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Is it considered exceptable to play a boot/re-issue or pressing if one owns the original record.. but is frightend that over enthusiastic punters will leap on to the dj stand to verify the records credibilty possibly leading to your M- becoming a VG+ or worse ???????? Please enlighten me as I have ceased to function worrying about this subject .
Mark S Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I am at present breaking in a new pair of Docs so these particular boots are no good for dancing in , but my original pair of cherry reds are great for dancing . I hope this helps to clear things up Webby
Guest Beeks Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Is Collecters a boot of that word by the Collectors?
Winsford Soul Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) I,ve seen a few boots dancing over the years Think a might have even taken a few of them home afterwards Steve Edited June 10, 2009 by Winsford Soul

Godzilla Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Think you've started confusing me with wendyindublin who is on here and is a very good of mine and l'm sure she'll the fact that you've mixed us up!! This sentence is missing several words. Maybe I can help: Think you've started confusing me with wendyindublin who is on here and is a very good alter ego of mine and l'm sure she'll realise she's been rumbled by the fact that you've mixed us up!! Anyway I thought your name was Wendydubbin. Thought it was something to do with how you smelled. Brings back memories mind you. Boys in the park. Jumpers for goalposts... Mmmmm.. Marvellous.....
Mark Bicknell Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Boot's what a lot of old cobblers...lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
Guest dundeedavie Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Quite difficult when you live in rural Ireland though you've got sleepless nights and for dancers only ...and i understand there is 3 soul nights in dublin alone
Guest dundeedavie Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Sleepless is once a month and very good,FDO is every 6 months and Good and that is in Wexford and another in Limerick every now and then but the promoters try hard and are nice blokes..Maybe they kept the other 2 soul nights a secret from me never been to sleepless but For Dancers Only can't fail to be good with Bill in charge ...we don't trust many people to guest at BASICS but Bill is one of them ...TOP bloke . i only got the 3 from reading the Irish soul forum

Please enlighten me as I have ceased to function worrying about this subject . perfectly acceptable........so long as the boot / re-issue is going round on 1 deck stylus down and the original is going round on the other deck stylus raised

paup-ine Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Of course the dancers are the normal ones, and the collectors are another breed! Ouch! who threw that old boot at me P
Cover-up Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Do you know what - I think this COULD be a very subtle twist on the tired old debate. Okay, originals v boots - YAWN! But punters dancing and caring? I've noticed on a few occasions dancers doing a weird, backwards shuffle - when they get near the decks, do a quick spin - check the single playing is, indeed, an original and then shimmy back into the middle of the floor - satisfied it's not a re-issue. I've also witnessed a dancer coming up to the decks, mid-song (and mid-dance) to ask "oh, I didn't know that came out on British" - "it didn't, its a re-issue" - to see the dancer promptly stop, and walk off and sit down... [it wasn't me playing the re-issue].

Guest Brett F Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Well if you find them tedious don't read them.. and replying to them, ...and on your deathbed you might want that wasted two minutes back!! I'd welcome that deathbead if i have to read tedious and repetitive posts like these again.............................. Edited June 12, 2009 by Brett F
