Does anybody know if Rufus Lumley is still around ? The man had a great voice & I always thought his lp on RCA was pretty good from a pop perspective, never mind the wonderful "Stronger than me". Cheers. Pete.

No he died a few years back from cancer, I got an email off his widow asking me if I could get her his record on Skyscraper (I think) anyway I definitely corresponded with her, all a bit vague now.

Thanks Mr Smith, one of those little things I've often wondered about. I'd like to think his widow was pleased that he had some fans across the water. Cheers. Pete

Yeah, a second or third hearing is always essential to form an opinion.

Haven't got it in my possesion yet Ted, it's entering the postal system tomorrow....so won't have it until Thursday. Thought I had it on CD but can't find the CD!

Martin, I know it's all about opinions but it's a stunning record....far, far better than 'average' which is of course just my opinion  .

I still can't believe they didn't see fit to issue "Stronger than me" as a single. I prefer that to I'm Standing I think.

Amen to that

Perhaps i might have a rethink if i have it to hand, rather than just hearing it out? But so far after a no of listens, it just hasn't done it for me. So judegement reserved, until otherwise.

1st of all my top 3 fab record, first play at samantha's early days (i'm standing) my brother lilttle mick, traded it in for a record he did a post morton on the LP, came up with 2 more tracks which was decent, came across i'm stronger than me, played at norwich all nighter 75-76 went down a storm then the mallet at cambridge on the way to yates december 76 service station mick did a trade in with Ian 1st played at yates stronger than me went down to storm also rest is history, believe it or not there was some good sounds discovered from east which are quite big up north today. billy
