Mike Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks to Paul Rice for the words below charting the story of what till now may not have been a well known story. Also many thanks to Nick Risi for the use of the photos from his own personal archives PAT POWDRILL AND NICK RISI By Paul Rice Pat Powdrill's mother and Nick Risi's father worked for the same company in Los Angeles. Ian Dewhirst Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) Not many people know this and it isn't officially noted anywhere but Pat was also one of the key vocalists on "Uptown Festival" by Shalamar. The song was recorded at Ike & Tina Turner's Bolic Sound Studio in East L.A. in the autumn of 1976 and, as a former Ikette and good friend of Ike & Tina, Pat came to the studio and joined Andrea and Gary - the other two uncredited vocalists who were featured on this million-seller. Bo Diddley Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Thanks for posting the Pat P article. "Do It" was and still is one of my all time favorite's from the WC days. A previous article I found interesting was this: - https://www.spectropo...drill/index.htm It gives a good insight into her experience's of the Music Business - bit sad! - and her encounter with Simon S and Shalimar. Ian D has mentioned the Shalimar connection. Again, an interesting version of events from her side. All the best Kev Bod
