Funky 4 Corners Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 The Third Party - Such A Soul Says Part II - Soul Hawk Tommy Neal - Going To A Happening - Pameline Edwin Starr - Back Street - Ric Tic
paultp Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Anything on Thelma but particularly Joe Matthews - She's My Beauty Queen (which took me ages to get) Another fave is The Arabians - Please Take A Chance on Me - for which I will be eternally grateful to Adey Potts; as he traded it to me when I first started collecting for most of what I thought was a rubbish sales box. He described it as a perfect record - no messy bits anywhere - true! Cheers Paul
dthedrug Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hi it,s a very hard one as I love the Detriot Sound,...Not my favourate but I spin both sides of this record, has anybody any info about it?, classic 6ts sound yet it could be a 8ts record for all I no! It,s by the Elevations - "Kissing" - D . wreckED . hiT-Michigan B/W "What Can I Do", 2 great sides the vocal sounds like Chrissy Hinds - DAVE KIL.

Guest Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 'I Can Feel The Ice Melting' - THE PARLIAMENTS Such an ice cool, mellow beautiful groove with George C at his chilled out best. A cheapo but a truly magnificent record on a classic label and the kind of cut that encapsulates why Detroit is so revered. Thanks to Pete Widd for introducing it to me so many moons ago, still love it as much as I did on that first play!
Windlesoul Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Have a ton of favourites non-motown related. But how about the Peps or Ronnie Love's versions of "Detroit, Michigan" (D-Town) for a non-motown related label that nods towards Berry Gordy's and name drops a few at the same time! Love it!
grant Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Emanuel Lasky "anything & everything" 'don't lead me on' must be up there too
