Guest Hunnymon
On a warm summers day like today I like to play The Temptations "Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)" (the version with the sax solo at the end). Richard Street's on the lead vocals. So right now I would nominate that one, however, tomorrow it could well be something else! Link to comment Social source share

Pete S
Too many to choose from but Shotgun Jnr Walker will always be special as the first 45 I can remember being bought for me as a kid. Though Smokey's lyrics are always special too. Bob Dylan called him America's greatest living poet and you can't say fairer than that. Some of Smokeys lyrics make you just cringe with embarassment, I dunno about greatest living poet; I'm holding you so tight, you know you could have been a handle...my smile is just a frown turned upside down.... Pete S
Why don't you lika all The Psychadelic Soul stuff from the late 60's and early 70's and do you reckon this is the time when Northern was turning into Funk? I like the Motown sound, after 67, it was almost gone completely, too diverse, mainly because of the L.A. influences. Link to comment Social source share
Guest TONY ROUNCE
I'd keep numbers 1 and 4...number 7 I would set fire to I knew you wouldn't like it, Pete, but "End Of the Road" is actually a good group record, but it's not representative of Motown. It doesn't sound like Motown, it just happens to be on the label. I've got about two hundred "Best Motown Singles", depending on what mood I'm in. But I think if I was really pressed to pick just one, I'd have to narrow it down to either: "I'll Always Love You" - The Spinners or: "I Guess I'll Always Love You" - Isley Brothers ...which, for me, will always epitomise what the real Motown Sound is all about...
