Guest Mary Boogaloo Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 "A sales list of over-priced goodies, why pay less when you can tell everyone you paid more" (Nancy Yahiro) GENE WILLIAMS - (Whatever you do) do it good - Forte Records M- (live version but perfect for DJing. Amazing soul tune, I've been spinning both versions since 1934) £80 (was £100) HAROLD JACKSON - Freedom riders - Edsel Ex (still in demand latin flavoured jazzy dancer. Some small stains on label) £100 THE GOLDEN TOADSTOOLS - Silly savage - Minaret Ex (wild and savage dancer. Yes) £20 DON GARDNER - Dog eat dog - VG+ (amazingly, it plays perfect! Excellent tune! Label intact with pencil writing both sides) £45 SONNY HINES - Nothing like your love - Terry Ex (alternative version, the better version, the dancey version) £15 BENNIE TURNER - Ching-ching-wong - Skymac (white demo) M-/Ex (idiotic title but the tune is actually wicked! Cool mid-tempo R&B dancer from 1963) £40 BRICE COEFIELD - Tempted - Madison Ex/VG++ (excellent early R&B you can dance to) £40 BIG DADDY GREEN - Mama ekue kie doo - Anla Ex/VG++ (dandy hammondy late 60s R&B, very danceable!) £30 LITTLE RAY - Come swim with me - Faro (you know, the light blue Hollywood label with cut outs of the artists mugs on it. A scream!) Ex (despite the comic value of the label, this is a tune and a half! Superb east coast soul from 1964) for you lot, only £120 MARVA JOSIE - Now it's the time (to love me) - Julmar Ex/VG++ (2 great sides, both suitable for an eager dancefloor. It's actually from 1969 but sounds earlier. Not that it matters) only £30 FATS DOMINO - If you don't love what love is - ABC-Paramount Ex/VG++ (marvelous R&B) £25 JIMMY HUGHES - I want justice - Fame Ex (drill hole and pencil writing on label) (fabulous R&B from 1965, massive in the Mod scene in the 90s, why not revive it? Then buy it!) £20 CHRISTINE KITTRELL - Call his name - Federal Ex (light water stain on label and a small stamp) (sublime mid-tempo R&B from 1966) £30 DEE DEE SHARP - Let's twine - Cameo Ex (excellent dancer, never heard anyone play it except from Nancy and myself) £15 TAMMY JAMES - That's fat Jack - New World Ex (amazing, amazing femme R&B from 1965) £55 PAT HUNT - Why do you do me like you do - Grand Ex (high-powered R&B! Impossible not to dance to) £80 JIMMY 'PREACHER' ELLIE - I'm gonna do it by myself - Jewel VG++ (visually VG but plays perfect, it has been with my family for many many years) (classic double sider) £I haven't got a clue, make me an offer COUNT YATES - Chimpanzee - Regis M-/Ex (wild R&B with monkey grunts) £25 I take Paypal. Postage is included (registered/insurance extra) I thank you. Mary

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hi Mary, you and Nancy have got excellent taste!!.So there's 3 of us now who play this .Well worth £15. ...Four, actually. In fact I thought there was only one, and it was me! It's a great double sider anyway and, as you say Kev, a snip at fifteen quid. For anyone who doesn't know it, it's more or less the vocal to Alvin Cash's 'Twine Time'...

Played this out a few times to rousing indifference. Great 45! Think I musta heard it originally at the Pendulem in the warm-up spots there. ROD
