Funky Si Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 How Sweet It Is This could easily be the best single ever made. What's Going On This is (almost certainly) the best album ever made - if Curtis had produced it, just imagine how good that would be ....
Shinehead Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Impossible to pick his best the man made so many great records probably the most consistent and loved artist of all time but these two always crack me up It's madness + Thats enough . Both touched with genius .

Guest Mezhouse Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 How hard is this?? He's right up there at the top of my list and my favourite tracks would change with my moods but if pushed it would be:- When I Feel the Need Let's Get it On If This World Were Mine On the other hand....................................?????????? Jo xxx
Missing Link Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 And is there any truth in the rumour that he once disappeared for years and was living in Ostend in Belguim?? Yes, totally true. Programme on BBC4 on Saturday night at 10.45 - 'What's Going On: the Life and Death of Marvin Gaye' - one to set the recorder for. As far as his best song - impossible question, so many class tunes to choose from I single one out. Favourite albums - without a doubt the whole of 'What's Going On' and 'Trouble Man'. The latter was a huge departure from his previous material and is my favourite music for driving.
Guest Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hanging On What's Going On album When I Had Your Love I Was A King Lucky Lucky Me Grapevine(yes THAT intro!) so so many trax by the man depends on the mood I guess

NorthernMoorSoul Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 At work today one of my colleagues (and he's a normal person! ) asked me "What Is You're favourite Marvin Gaye record?" Andy Rix Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) This love starved heart(is killing me). Bernard. It is of interest to note that the original version of 'This love starved heart of mine (it's killing me)' was actually recorded in Los Angeles by Al Wilson. The writers, Helen & Kay Lewis, cut the track on Al in the hope that it would secure him a deal at Motown. Obviouslty that was never to be. Helen was completely unaware that Marvin had recorded the track until i discussed it with her many years later Andy Edited May 29, 2009 by AndyRix
Sean Hampsey Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 It's A Desperate Situation .. from the Love Starved Heart 'Lost & Found' CD .. the epitome of a man in pain.. and Ivy Jo's unreleased demo version is as good Andy The 'released' version by Jimmy Ruffin is also a goodie! Sean
