Hi ,anyone noticed the similarity between .....

The Capitols-" I've got to handle it"(Karen) and The Intentions "I'm losing your love"(Uptight)?.

Is there any connection with producer's/writers/labels or even band members?

Was it established on here that The Intensions and the Intentions were different groups, one being white?

The group on "I'm Losing Your Love" were from Pennsylvania, and part of the "Barclay" group of labels (Traditions - My Life With You etc), and amazingly nothing to do with the groups of the same name from Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. Quite a low budget stable of labels, so likely they "borrowed" heavily from the Capitols track.

The Capitols - I Got To Handle It is one of the first few Northern records I bought and also one that got me into collecting Detroit.

Awesome sound

Anyone post up a soundfile of the Intentions please for comparison?

Cheers

A young music devotee, Clay Barclay set up a recording studio in his Parents basement in Orwigsburg Pennsylvania and recorded this tune for posterity, as well as "The Traditions" (Barclay), "Bobby Penn & Penpals" (Up-Tight) and "Vic & Catalinas" (Barclay) as well as unreleased stuff by "The Motiques" and "James And The Incredible Showmen". Although a real budget outfit, "The Traditions - Girls - Barclay" reputedly sold over 10,000 copies!

In comparison, the Caps seems to have more 'punch' for your pound £££!
