Why is it they go for so much. i happen to look on ebay and places for patches and find that paying say £10 or more for a patch is steap.

i am looking for an original Peterborough Wirrina phoenix soul club patch but never can find one and only people who have one won't sell.

40 to 50? Wow. I sold mine in a job lot for £70. I thought the Blackpool Casino was £10 fair price - bit of glue.

I own the badge which I use as my avatar. It is one of 6 which was made by Ernest Flower army regimental badge

makers of Blackpool back in the 70's. All six had different colours around the edge. They also used silver metal thread.

Ive often wondered how much its worth. Although a little faded its a great badge.

WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT AFTER SPENDING THE LAST MONTHS IN JORDAN,IRAQ AND THE LEBONON THAT, HE WOULD BE IN THE MOST FAMOUSE BATTLES OF THE MODERN TIMES, TABROOK TWICE,EL ALAMANE TWICE, NOT LIKE TODAY WEEKS OF BRAVEORY FIGHT OR DIE STUF, IN ITALY HE WAS AT MONTE CASINO WHEN THE REGAMENT LOOKED TO THE SKY AND WATCH MEN FROM THE FREE POLISH ARMY 2 OUT OF 3 PARACHUTES FAILED TO OPEN THAT DAY I COULD GO ON AND ON, SO HIS MEDALS THE AFRICA STAR, ITALY AND EUROPE STAR, ECT WILL NEVER BE SOLD BY ME, HOWEVER MANY POEPLE BUY MEDALS AS A HOBBY I DONT THINK FOR ONE MOMENT THAT THEY PUT THEM ON AND PLAY SOLDIERS WITH THEM..ITS THE SAME WITH BADGES THE ADVERT FROM THE GEEZER IS TYPACAL OF THE SORT OF PEOPLE I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO GIVE A RIGHT HOOK TO, HIS OPENING REMARK HI SOULIES TELLS ME EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW FUCKING HELL I HATE THIS IDIOTIC OBVERSERLY COMING FROM A NORTHERNER. SOULIES YOU MATE ARE A PRISE TOSSER AND I HOPE YOU NEVER GET YOUR REMAING BADGES AS IF YOU WERE A SOUL BROTHER I WOULD FIND ONE FOR YOU BUT AS YOU ARE A SOULIE f*** OFF, AND THEN HE DOES IT AGAIN BY NOT ONLY NOT GOING TO THE ALLNIGHTERS IN QUESTION HE IS TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW, ANY WAY LETS f*** HIM AND HIS SOULIE MATES OF

RIGHT THINKING ABOUT THE BADGES THING WHILE WALKING THE DOG AT 3.30AM I MADE A LINK WAIT FOR IT THE PERMANANT BADGE THE TATTOO THERE IS DEFANANTLY A STRONG LINK TO NS BADGES ALSO REGGAE AND SKINHEADS. I EMEMBERD MY MATE PAUL WHO HAD A CARRABIAN SUNSET ON HIS ARM IN EARLY 69 WITH THE PAMA SYMBEL AS THE RED SUN AND OF COURSE FOOTBALLTATOOS BOSTAL SPOTS THERE GOT TOBE A FEW RARESOUL WHEEL NIGHT OWLS OUT THERE :D DAVE KIL

I asked about this recently, I've got quite a lot here that have just arrived. A friend of mine cleared out her attic and is emigrating so getting rid of loads of stuff. She seems to have everything from vava's through the casino badges and others from all over the country. It's really interesting looking at them but they're not mine to keep. (Also from their attic, lots of original 45s need to be sold too)

note to self - get on with it!.

Can't be many of these left. Casino 3rd Anniversary Badge It was just printedon a piece of cloth, even the edges were'nt hemmed. As ya can see mine's been embroided [ by old fame at the time ] in slightly different colours to the one's printed onto the badge.Don,t know if i should have left it as it was but would of imagined the printed colours would have faded away by now, cause even the printing was shite.SORRY the picture is a bit shite.

When the Casino closed my mates brother came home that morning after the 10th very last / final allnighter !!! And as usual I went round that afternoon, as a pimple faced teen to listen to his records downstairs in the living room with my mate as he slept it off !!. When he got up he gave me a brown envelope and a poster with the parting words " Don't bother getting into it , it's all over !!!!!! "

Thank fXXk I got the last year at Stafford !!!

Anyway I took the envelope + poster away , framed them all and for over 25 yrs they remained on my old bedroom wall in pristine condition , identical as the nights he got them ,

I had every original badge from Wigan from start to end ,

Sold them all on ebay and made a small fortune ,

So yes , they're collectable allright ,

Do I miss them ?

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still got mine in the attic with original patches on it. Still have my vest with patches on it somewhere but it would only fit my leg now.biggrin.gif

A knackered Wigan patch just sold for £40 odd on ebay last week and it was pretty beat up.

There's a few photos of me in my youth with these patches/badges being used to cover where I'd put holes in the knees of various trousers when coming off scooters. I thought that's what they were for, patching clothing in a make do and mend type of way.

I never got into the whole collecting them thing and usually gave them away. The only thing I liked was the car stickers, and a while back I saw a van at a venue that was covered in what looked like original car stickers.

One badge I did find when clearing out some stuff at my moms was a Keighley ( have I spelt that right, it doesn't look right?) think it must be mid 70's? would anybody think that has a value?

They're naffer than the word naff. I expound on this theory in the sleevenotes to the forthcoming Kent CD 6TS 100 Club Anniversary singles, if you suffer from sleeplessness.

Naffer than Mr Naff from Naffville.

I've printed quite a few over the years......but was happy to get my own back with little beauty

Scanning through this, I don't suppose the gent/lady who cut those patches off my bag as it lay amongst a pile on the stage at Wigan would like to return them now? Can't recall the date. One I miss, sad as that is, was a local one, I think promoted by Phil Kingswood, a square patch with an oak tree centre design, think it was Sherwood Soul Club. Still got a few in a frame with old fliers etc.

The only patch I'm still partial to is .........the Intercity Soul Club - brilliant idea, but what a scam - maybe evan a first on the scam front for northern soul.

You paid to join the soul club & got a membership patch - then for a few quid more you could apply to join some sort if inner circle - brilliant, still tickles me now.

badges started with the wheel.Remember in about 71/2 some fellas coming to the NAGS HEAD in wollaston northants prior to going to the BLETSOE allnighter, they were from MANC they had blazers with proper embroidered wheel badges on their blazer pockets, skinner jeans....they looked the biss......this was when the scene was proper underground....boy did they look cool. The next badges were from the TORCH which l have one (bought at the torch) which kinda told everyone else (who did 'nt know ) as well as those that did that it was different.....not ya cinderella/rockafella shite that most folk went to. My avatar was a badge l got from WIGAN and sold on E-BAY FOR £300 .......PERSONALLY (apart from the torch badge)...l agree with ADY .......they're pants, naff and have no place on the scene.......they're just a way of folk saying where they haven't been......and they matter not a jot............the big joke is people going to venues just up the road with an overnight bag full of em lol........thats me ta tezza

"The Blackpool Casino". Now there is a name you do not see very often these days.

Is there anyone out there who used to go there?

I remember it fondly, as I used to holiday in the town and it was the place where I

first heard many of the sounds that I still love to today

I got to know the dj Gay Wylde, who had some top sounds in the days before imports

became a big thing.

Does anyone have a scan of that Casino patch, as I can't recall ever seeing one. I do

still have one of my mebership cards though.

Now you're talking; membership cards are the real McCoy. You had to have them, they weren't a gimmick. Though why I never actually ever took mine to Wigan when they were so strict and you had to do all sorts of blagging to get in, I'll never know.

Actually, same reason I can't find my cheque book now!

Hi Soulsider.

Many thanks for that scan.

As I said, all the time I went to the Blackpool Casino I can't recall ever seeing a patch for sale.

Had I done so, I would certainly have bought one. Will now have to look for one!

As you said, a great club, playing great sounds.

I went '68, '69, early '70's, and like you have some fantastic memories.

Heard Marvin's 'Little Darlin'' there for the first time and will never forget that moment. It is

still my favourite sound.

Happy Days.
