Pete S Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 This one has always confused me because they were sold alongside all the other pressings of the time, except the delta number is 87770 which makes it a couple of years earlier than it's appearance in the UK in 1976. So are they all originals?

Chalky Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) I think (but not totally sure) that yellow label ones are originals and the white label ones are slightly later reissues.....happy to be corrected on that though! There are original white demo styrene copies as far as I'm aware. The later presses dunno about white ones but definitely yellow label copies done by the label owner at the request of some from the UK (Neil Rushton I think so he might be able to tell you more if he reads this), 500 of 'em. Delta # on the re-issues is S-101-X - Delta 87770-X. Edited May 21, 2009 by chalky

Jerry Hipkiss Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Right, this is what I thought, but how did they get that delta number? Used the original master when repressing?
Pete S Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 pretty sure the delta number on the original Pete puts it as a 60's press. I think it's 1970 or 71 as they look like the 60's ended with 79000. So if they do a repress, would they have kept the original stampers then, suppose they must have. (Which is what Jerry said)

So if they do a repress, would they have kept the original stampers then, suppose they must have. (Which is what Jerry said) Talking of using the same stampers, I picked up a spare copy of "Nothing But A House Party" by The Show Stoppers (on UK Beacon) and was surprised to see it had "Mastered by Frankford / Wayne" in the run out grooves, along with a different (presumably US) catalogue number. Didn't know they used US stampers to make UK pressings???

Bought it as an original from Soul Bowl for £8 in 80's .Best,Eddie an original from 1972 which is when its from and not a 60s 45 at all. it just has a 60s feel to it. so we assume its from the 60s........... anyway i thought it was white demo only originally and the yellow ones were done later in the 70s. interesting ? when does the lucky jamal davis `not where you start` on yellow highland date from? dave sunday chill out 7th june. horse and groom pub. east laith gate. doncaster with guest` donkit` and russ `oldsoulman` steele + regular spinners

I shall now put it on ebay with and write a load of b*llocks about it Also, apart from the "bubbling", the label looks suspiciously shiny and "bootleg-ish" to me... Wasn't Soul Patrol an old Cats spin? (Max?)
Guest mel brat Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) I think the Jamal/Lucky Davis release was probably just a brief re-launch of the Highland label, as happened with several 60s labels in the 70s (Fraternity springs to mind offhand). Cue for a new thread on "re-launched 60s labels" perhaps? Edited May 23, 2009 by mel brat
