It's got the royalty rate on and yes, it's a pittance! Will post up some pics of each when back at home.... Rich

Rain is probably easier on decca than it is on US Bell to be honest, always turning up on Ebay.

I was thinking the same, surely they are the original release of that country. I have collected canadian issues for years and have had just about all the big sounds that came out at one time or another, i have always been under the impression that they were released in smaller quantity than the U.S.A thus making them rarer. Also they are usually a lot better quality.

I am constantly being surprised with what I have found and I have things like Little Charles on Canadian Decca, Alexander Patten, Helen Troy on Canadian Kapp, Ketty Lester on Canadian Black Rca, I have the Etta James mentioned at the start of the thread and loads of classic Motown like the Linda Griner, Eddie Holland - Outside Looking In etc etc. I can remember one of the first "junk" shops I went into and found a Gloria Jones on Capitol, it was battered beyond belief but there went the "Im not going to start collecting again". I am currently picking up the Detroit stuff like Precisions on Stone, the Reo stuff and the Canadian Ric Tic on a nice Purple label. I also have a Deon Jackson on Canadian Carla, nice looking white label.

I can see what Benji means, and also your point - I think the keyword in Benji's statment is "technically", because it was almost unheard of for a record to get a worldwide release on the same day, which is the only way multiple releases of a record could be called "original" . - Technically !! Realistically, I would think any record that was released in various countries could be called "original" if they were all released within the same time span (maybe a couple of months) - So then it would be fair to say that a "reissue" could be a release in another country based on the POPULARITY OF THE ORIGINAL RELEASE. The last Carl Carlton cost me $1 at the Niagara Fall Show and I havent paid more than $4 for the Rain. Neither of them seem to sell well. These do seem to turn up quite often at shows. I will dig some of the more interesting one's out and list 'em.
