boba Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 only one I know of is The Sounds of Black - Sounds of Black pt 1 / pt 2 45 LS1931 i'm not sure this is the same lakeside label despite being from chicago. it might be connected but i think it's not. anyways, maurice jackson lucky fellow got reissued on the same lakeside label as willie williams.
Jaco Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The Willie Williams Lakeside label is from New York according to R & B Indies 3100 Willie Williams - "The baa-baa song/Psyched out" 3101 Maurice Jackson - "Lucky fellow/Instrumental" 3102 Bobby Franklin & Friends - "This is the place/I can't wait for your love" Perhaps Bob can explain the Chigaco connection because Maurice Jackson was from Chicago and the Chess listings show Lakeside tracks.

I know bobby franklin is a detroit artist but he worked with eddie thomas, etc., this is just a guess but everything might have been via eddie.

Stillsoulin Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 From memory isnt the candlelite a slightly different take, either the girl vocals missing or the piano parts not so pronounced? I have the candlelight copy and mines in good nick. Rob h.
