Pete S
Holidays.. Making up time on Polydor.. Inspirations a tougher one, but both hard on this label, along with Paradox .. Ring the changes.. Holidays is actually relatively easy to pick up because for some reason no one seems to want it. Paid £50 for one in April. Bobby Paris is quite hard to find on Polydor. Inspirations is on really flexible vinyl if I remember correctly. Link to comment Social source share
Pete S
all the Pink Elephant 45s i've had are from Holland. Are we listing European releases as well? No I just keep it with the UK's because it looks like one! Link to comment Social source share
Pete S
Never seen that Venus label, anything else on it? Presumably that's the same Alan Martin on Rio... Personally I prefer the Sensations version of 'Loser' on Doctor Bird, but the Harriott's a good 'un too. Where's that Ray Barretto from? That's never British on Pink Elephant, surely? The Sensations song is a totally different one to the Derrick Harriott one! No connection apart from the title. Venus is another Rio label, Alan Martin is actually Denzil Dennis, it's a good UK soul production which I sold as a cover up last year, there is a sound file up. I think there are only 5 releases on the Venus label, Owen Gray and Laurel Aitken included. Link to comment Social source share

Sensations is a cover of Bobby Lee on Sue, I think the Harriott is 'based on' the Bobby Lee, chorus is the same for one thing, tune's pretty similar... play them both again and you'll see what I mean! Becket
Here's a few more to chat about....................... Dee Dee Sharp - It's a funny situation (Cameo Parkway) Fork in the road - I can't turn around (Ember) Mr Flood's Party - Compared to what (Ember White Test Press) Mick Smith only ever seen two ! Lou Johnson - Unsatisfied (Demo Mis-press on MONUMENT label) I think this is the title - again Mick only seen a handful. Undisputed Truth - Save my love for a rainy day (Demo Mis-press on PARLOPHONE label) I had this once and have seen one or two more. Kelly Brothers - Crying days are over (Sue) Would kill for one of these ! Popsike shows a couple or so NOT REALLY sure just how rare this is. It has always been desired - especially by me ! Chairmen of the board - Give me just a little more time (INV 501 DEMO) Never ever seen or heard of this on demo. Ran a thread on S/S about this and nobody answered! INV502 Band of gold DEMO does exist. Frankie Valli - The Night (Mowest MW5002 DEMO) again as above. White test press with info sheet only I have seen. Barbara Mills - Queen of fools (Hickory ISSUE) Darrell Banks - Open the door etc (London Demo - hand written credits like Ben E King) There is a difference between outright rarity and just desirability - always good to mention this eg Darrell Banks on London demo. Over the years have seen so many of these and yes always sells and is ultra desirable - not a real rarity IMHO Most major UK labels sent a few hundred or so demo's out - didn't they ? I think the thing with Darrell Banks is that it is so desirable , the demand far outways the amount of copies out there .Think Neil Rushton had either a hand written or type written Darrell Banks , def. saw it when I bought some UK things off him in the late 70's. And I have never heard or seen of a Chapter Five - one in a million issue either ? Questions......Questions... Tony Colton, probably, just slightly Ray Pollard is a weird one because when I was trying to sella Drifter demo nobody wanted it, it was bizarre, now I can't find one. I would say Drifter issue is commoner than demo, and sad thing issue is harder than the demo. There are no issues of One In A Million, I think he said they pulled it after the management heard there was a version coming out by Karol Keyes. Mick Holdsworth
I've ended up with the one we fought over on ebay and you sold to Swoz Oh, I remember that one - I think you would have paid less than I sold it for though. Crazy thing that record - Just like busses ... First Demo copy I had was Nev Wherry's , which ended up in the hands of Tony Clayton in the early eighties. Then nothing for 25 or more years ... until 2007 when FOUR DEMO copies went through my hands. 1 - Bought from Mick Smith (eBay) - copy destoyed by Post Office. 2 - After Mick claimed (unsuccesfully, even though it was Spec Del) he sent me his own copy. 3 - Private sale from Birmingham (only vg) - but under a ton. 4 - Another off eBay - this must be the one you have now. There was another on eBay at the time of Number 1 above, but I think this became Number 4. I've still got Number 2 Anyone got a soundclip of a blue stock - would like to hear the differences.
