Ian Seaman Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Wanted and needed a decent 4 prong centre for a UK black issue capitol 66 disco series PM with any info, thanks, Ian.
Gene-r Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Weren't they just the same as normal Capitol black label issues (the only difference being the printing of "Discotheque '66 Series" or "Discotheque '67 Series" on the label itself)? Of course, they'd all have the "Sold In UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions" legend printed on them. Edited May 13, 2009 by Gene-R
Pete S Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Put an old Beatles centre in or something, all the EMI labels are the same
Gene-r Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Put an old Beatles centre in or something, all the EMI labels are the same Apart from the Columbia, Parlophone or HMV singles that have part of the 45 RPM logo on the centre Pete (see below)! Edited May 13, 2009 by Gene-R

Problem is though, there's a distinct probability that the "Sold In UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions" will not line up with the title on the label below because the prong slots will probably be some degrees off, if you see what I mean?

Good point Denbo. Even if one side aligns correctly, it doesn't always mean to say that the other side will, so there's that to be cautious about.

Having said that, that's preferable to not having a centre at all. Plus, one more thing. Even after you've got the new centre glued in, there's always the chance that the record will then rotate slightly off-centre. You have to do all this on a turntable first before allowing the glued to harden. Edited May 13, 2009 by denbo

If truth be told, I'd rather have a dinked record than one with a transplanted centre. With the couple that I have had, the job had been done so badly that the prongs shone of Super Glue. One centre actually fell out after it had been in my DJ box for a few months. Edited May 13, 2009 by Gene-R

Know what you mean BUT all the ones I've got, and there's only a handful out of thousands, I did them all myself, before the days of Super Glue, and they're all spot on, except of course the lining up of the "Sold In UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions" with the title. Pretty close mind but not perfect.

Alamo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Wanted and needed a decent 4 prong centre for a UK black issue capitol 66 disco series PM with any info, thanks, Ian. Ive got a Capitol centre but im looking for a Bobby Sheen "Dr. Love" with a dinked middle if you know of one going spare!! Al
Ian Seaman Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 It did cross my mind about the lining up bit looking at my Alexander Patton issue the 4 prongs are, 1, the top one is right on the S of USA Recordings. 2, Right side one is just below the F of the record No. 3, Bottom one is above the H in discotHeque 66 4, left hand one is above the Brujem word. anal or what Cheers, Ian.
Guest Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I would be wanting the tosspot who fingered my middle out in the 1st place. If you dont find one ill post a scan of mine up, should make you feel better Ian B)
